TCG General - Zard Slabs
day 303 of growing my charizard collection till it hits $1mil

charizard count: 3000+, invested $25-30k so far, estimated value $50k+, nothing insane (holding 100 booster boxes for 2 years would have returned 5x) but im happy with my collection + passive gains

Imagine collecting this garbage and thinking you're gonna make it lol.
Sorry your funko/labubu/pokemon collection isn't going to be worth jack shit in a few years.

Ever played a massive multiplayer game? Sure you have, it's called life.
So in the game, there's money, but nobody can agree on what money actually is. Some people stack physical or digital coins, some people deal in lumber, some people invest in MRE's, some people breed exotic pets, some people buy limited edition holiday decorations thinking they can outpace inflation & exchange rates & other market forces. I think alternative currency is awesome. I don't want to be confined to regulated currency I'm diversified beyond belief.

I recently got back my grades. I'm a bit disappointed. I'm really pissed about the Vaporeon. I inspected that card myself before sending it in and thought it would hit at least a 7 or possibly a 9. IDK why they rated it so low. All the other cards I understand, especially the Moltres which has a kink in it.
It wasn't a total loss though, PSA was willing to buy the Vaporeon off me for 2x it's current going value. They were also willing to buy the Venomoth for more what it's worth on ebay.
I am hyped about the two ones though. The guy that runs my FLGS expressed interest in any ones I could get my hands on. I'm excited to see what I can get for them.

pokemon are by far the most popular and desired so would advise you stick to those unless you mean to play vs invest (some people enjoy playing magic)

Some anons over at the TCG thread on /vp/ where able to help me figure it out. Turns out the card was actually pretty faded which I hadn't noticed.
But like I said, PSA offtered to buy it for $18 which is 2x what I'd get at a FLGS or off of ebay. So it wasn't a complete loss.

THE BIGGEST RETURNS ARE IN THE PSA 10 ALT ARTS CHASERS. STOP BUYING QUANTITY OVER QUALITY SHIT THAT HAS TERRIBLE ROI AND IMPOSSIBLE TO SELL LARGE QUANTITIES OF. BUY ONCE CRY ONCE. NO CARDS UNDER 700 USD.
Anonymous (ID: 6d/KsaCe) No.61188609
>>61188166
well wrong biggest returns are sealed product longterm your psa 10 moonbreon wont outperform an evolving skies booster box in 10 years time

im not doing this for "best return" im doing it for some profit + biggest zard collection

I just unpacked this card, should I sell it now ? (I'm seeing 600USD on eBay) Or hold it ? I'm interested in profit only I don't really care about the card

typically japan cards tank once the english equiv gets released BUT in hot market with a genuinely good card its hard to predict

if you want 600 bucks just take it

I read an article a while back saying that the Pokemon brand is legally a part of Japanese heritage and there are strict laws governing how/when people can use the Pokemon license.
Anyone who does something to jeopardize the brand or make unsanctioned deals can be imprisoned.

Pokemon English TCG, you either stack zards or other main character cards in the hope the market cap grows, speculate with PSA slabs or buy sealed and hold for 10-20 years

I prefer sealed because in 20 years time having a mint box of something from today an era of Pokemon hype, is going to be value
