Holding CS skins as an investment was always insane. If you somehow were making real money on that, you should have been diversifying into actual assets a long time ago. No one earth should have a CSGO skins as their retirement plan lol

>Now that anyone can “guarantee” a knife, exclusivity and pattern rarity took a hit. But on the flip side, prices of red (Covert) skins skyrocketed, since they’re now the crafting fuel.
>Knives might drop 20–30% in value short term, but the demand for high-tier Covert skins could keep the market balanced overall.

its simply transferring value from knifes to everything else. over time these skins will deplete, same as cases, so everything in the game will go up like cases at the cost of knives losing value. they should add a sink for knifes though, like 5 shit knives for a good one maybe..?

I have failed to make it in crypto and failed in games too. All this time i spent on poe, when cs was like x100 times more profitable. Bulgaria here: I do believe that most crashes that affect us are rarer than most crashes that affect you: for the most part slovakia, bulgaria or serbia only has to care about global EU mandates, anti-Russia bullshit laws and propaganda, indians and some local mafia shit . This means that for the most part things are stable. Meanwhile americans suffer from the same global laws like the EU ones + they have jeets too + they have to complain about Trump + other bullshit you see on /pol/ 24/7 ..... I tell you this: life in a more traditional, ancient, undeveloped, poor, primal, natural, monkey society is better than modern life. 14/15 is a bit early, have you tried GO near the end (2023)? it would have probably been even harder.

the main problem is subtick and the hitreg in this game is pure shit and it's the most important thing in a competitive FPS, i regularly encounter situations where a bullet is clearly missing a guy left/right of his head but i headshot him, or vice-versa. kills that don't feel like kills. then i go check the demo, we have the same ping, and the bullet is not where it's supposed to be, but there's a headshot. not to mention the dying behind walls and fucking up jiggle peeking because the other guy can still see you.

in CSGO you always knew why you won or lost a duel, it was the perfect FPS. there was no way a guy with 500-1000 elo below me is beating me in half of the duels. in this game with peekers advantage (everyone wide swinging), higher moving accuracy (don't need perfect counterstrafes anymore) and terrible hitreg (increased luck factor in every duel) it's random as fuck. there are so many bad players near 3k elo (EU) who don't know basics of the game that it's just unbearable.

and still every update they do is more about skins than the fucking game.

You get steambux, which is pegged to the US dollar so 1 steam buckeroo is always 1 USD. You can only use steamyreamies on steam. Exchanging items and currency on your account to someone else for USD cannot be done, and do use 3rd party systems to make these transactions is against the TOS and will result in bans and confiscations.
Then if you still manage to get out and turn it into real money, now you have the classic dilemma of tax like with any gain, except the rules for digital assets are all fucked and were based as if they were tangible so you can have entirely different tax brackets and rules depending on even which county you live in let alone state or country. Maybe you could buy tons of games on steam or trade for more cool skins with those steambucks, but getting that converted back into actual cash ($) for the vast majority of normal players (outside of organized third party criminal operations) is basically infeasable?

These marketplaces usually have bots that accept these skins. I've used them before and never been banned or flagged even though the trade is one-sided. Valve sometimes banes these trading bots, however i have never heard of peoples actual accounts being banned for it.

The reason im skeptical is because the other side of the trade (the in-game side) is asymmetrical. If you have to send all your highly valuable skins to a single account, for nothing in return (essentially gifting it), and not only you, but 1000 other people/customers are "gifting" hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of valuable skins to the third party merchant account, it becomes pretty obvious that you and that account is engaging in RMT. This sort of activity is the easiest thing to detect because there is no value-for-value trade. A usual trade is you recieve steambucks, and that account recieves a valuable skin.

In a cash out like this, you recieve no steambucks, yet the seller account still recieves valuable skins. And in huge volumes.

if you map it out it looks like the center of a spiderweb, with the central node receiving skin gifts worth hundreds of thousands of dollars without ever giving anything in return. And if its a dedicated salesaccount it may not even have regular gameplay activity. Valve can easily detect that.

Valve has no incentive to ban people for trading. The only reason they cracked down on it was because of CS gambling sites. It's actually better for Valve for people to cash out to real cash instead of steam bucks because they don't have to pay game creators real money when customers use steam money to buy other games. The only reason you can't cash out directly from steam is because it would make their legal argument that skins don't have any monetary value not work which would make cases gambling.

The marketplaces have an unbelievable amount of trading bots for this reason. It spreads the trades thin over a large number of accounts.

If valve starts whacking these accounts with trade bans, then other accounts consisting of people transferring skins to their alt account (One way trade) would get caught in the crossfire too.

There's not really a feasible way for valve to tackle this problem without shot gunning swathes of accounts innocent or guilty. If there was away to remove RMT they would have done it years and years ago. You're right in that valve may do something in the future to fuck over RMT, but also why would they? they would single handily kill their skins market and therefore ruin their own revenue.

They want the regular joe schmos to keep doing it because if they can cash out then it makes valves digital skins have more legitimacy in the eyes of the general public for them to sucker into their market. I don't really think this is a good argument because a brand new account whos never logged into CS before instantly receiving valuable gifts worth thousands of dollars is even more of a red flag.

Even more so because an organic trade it would be an active player account with regular gameplay hours trading with another active player account.

Although it's only really believable if valve is simply choosing not to crack down on RMT, because there is no way they can't detect it.

Since ~2022 all new CS items from trade ups are trade locked for a week.

This means the dip after the update is pure speculation, and no new knives from tradeups are on the market yet.

There is widespread uncertainty on whether or not the new knives will be tradeable or marketable.

As with all CS tradeup items, the new knives will become tradeable and marketable after 7 days.

If you use reds that don't have a trade ban, the resulting knife wont be trade banned. There's already new knives created from the update onto the market already.

Also if every single red in the game is traded up (which it wont), there will be a 2x in the supply of knives altogether, leading to a MAX 50% price reduction.

Reds have already become to expensive to make continuous profit from trading up, so you're wrong all across the board

few of those knives from those tradeups have hit the market yet because of community market trade locks. Given the current price of reds and the parabolic price trajectory after the update one can estimate that's roughly one metric fuckload of knives primed and ready to be hocked the second that trade lock lifts

I will admit i didn't factor in traded reds leading to non trade locked knives but because of the CS economy's love affair with the community market there's far more trade locked knives than not
