It’s not a lie as such. It will be made to work eventually but it’s going to take a lot more work. LLMs are only a component of what it will eventually look like. They have gotten too greedy thinking they could just whip up the machine god by scaling to infinity overnight when in reality it’s going to take continued sustained research and development. The bubble is absolutely going to pop because they have spent and committed to waaaaaay too fucking much that they can’t possibly deliver on it before the investors start scrambling to get out. I suppose the government could backstop them for their trillions to keep them going though, which…. lol…..

Next step is AGI and once it drops, nobody but the upper echelons will have access to it. And I guarantee they will never use it for good, at all. Currently AI is used to power ultra specific war-fueling databases, generating chicks with dicks and writing mediocre fanfiction-tier literature/ERP.

I'm more excited about Mystic's DAO coming out than anything AI related and I was more excited about Battlefield 6 coming out than anything AI related a few months ago, and so on. It's obvious shit's stagnant when you look at the top performing 666B models out there doing the same as smaller models from months ago.

I work with a tech giant. Leadership wishes AI would replace people... But it doesn't even get close. They are firing for 3 reasons. 1. To make shareholders see green numbers on the books for eval. 2. Getting rid of more American/EU jobs in order to outsource to Vietnam and India. 3. Reducing "woke" branches created to please the previous administration, geopol/HR staff.

AI mainly will... And has for years, replaced customer service. We have had this sorta FAQ thing going, that one gets expanded, even though I hear it's proving difficult as AI keeps making shit up, not being as reliable as the old forms.

I personally believe it's a paranoid race to see if "AGI" is around the corner... But we are seeing 0 signs of it. Only the very old or very stupid think so.
