>>10947572Are you being serious or do you just want to brag about your weight loss? Because you sound like a jackass. Soul food was created in order to fuel ourselves for heavy field labor. Yes obesity is a problem now that we're not slaves, yes junk food is a problem, but that is downstream of the larger problems of this country, i.e the mindfuck that is poverty and knowing you are descendent of human cattle, lack of education, the corruption of the fda, misinformation about the real dangers of junk food, hormonal and blood sugar problems, binge eating disorders, compulsive tendencies etc. Also for some weight gain is an (un?)consious rejection of mainstream expectations and the management of black female's bodies. Kinda the inverse of how some girls are anorexic to avoid sexual attention. However for most id imagine it's the result of different beauty standards, malnutrition (its very hard to get high quality organ meats and produce in food deserts for example) causing us to reach for quick comforts which aren't treating the underlying issue. Not to mention as a coping mechanism for abuse which many black women suffer at the hands of family and partners and doctors and just the stress of modern life that everyone endures, multiplied by racism and sexism that permeates american culture at large which sees us as subhuman. Personally i find fat grotesque and panic at any sign of weight gain but that's mostly because i became fixated on being skinny to compensate for lack of an hourglass/pear figure around puberty and also noticed how nice i am treated in public when underweight and also saw my late grandmother get so fat she could no longer walk and we had to widen our door for her to stay with us during her hospice.
tldlr; many black women live fucked up lives and food is comforting and historically fat black women were not seen as sexually unattractive in our culture.
