A little over two months out now. Anyone attending Momocon this year? Any interesting panels or cosplays planned?
I'm going since it's my home con and right down the road from me. Just going to be running around as 9S from NieR Automata.
Staying in the Signia this time, so that'll be interesting.
Signed up to run a diy RPG
Now I have to write enough rules to handle my oneshot.
Which hotels let you prepay
>>10948326literally all of them? Just use hotels.com
>>10948073 (OP)Unfortunately I won't be going this year but if I did, I would've likely hung out in the arcade along with attending the Zicky Side's Outlandish Paradise pro wrestling show they have on all 3 days of the con along with possibly participating in the Beyblade tournament that 404 eSports confirmed they were having.
>>10948377Correction: I meant Zicky Dice. Not sure why autocorrect fucked up.
>>10948377>>10948387I was on camera during one of his outside the ring brawls and it was the only match that got taken off YouTube
Momocon denied all my panel submissions for the first time ever. I eagerly await seeing what black/trans/queer panels were approved instead.
>>10948598Are you telling me that you don't want hood weeb solipsism panels like "I'm a Blerd -that means 'Black Nerd'- and I watch anime (I'm Black)"?
>>10948618This is perhaps the biggest drawback to conventions in Atlanta. The blerd shit is so retarded, yet so ever-present.
>>10948629honestly, there are a few things wrong with hood weeb culture. Overanalyzing things and sometimes often making a mockery of the shows they discuss with powerscaling and shit like that.
>>10948598What were the panels? Me and a friend are running 2 panels this year but they both got incredibly late time allotments
>>10948618>>10948629Someone should tell them they can't whine about racism when the have a weird infatuation with the show about literal monkey people screaming and kicking the shit out each other
>>10948709To me, it's the shameless, low effort grifting and solipsism of things like "I'm Black, and watch anime while being Black (He's Black). Donate to my Cashapp" that I find annoying.
Maybe I'm out of touch, but this doesn't seem like a draw
>>10948732It's just a broader symptom of anime culture becoming more normified in recent years and thus being infested with the same social trends that afflict pop culture at large. Luckily the actual production of anime itself is distanced from these trends by a literal ocean, so they take what they can get by ruining English dubs and con culture.
The Atlanta cons are particularly bad about this. How many times has that guy with the Harlem manga gotten a fucking booth at AWA or Momo just to sell 0 copies of his black manga? How many blerd panels and booths are taking up space from otherwise interesting content/merch? How many black cosplayers put no effort whatsoever into their cosplays, not even bothering to try to match the character's hairstyle or traits because they're doing a "black version" of the character? I don't care at all about blacks participating in cons and in anime culture, but this shit is ridiculous and annoying as fuck.
>>10948744sooner or later they'll have Beyblade tournaments. Oh wait, that got confirmed.
>>10948744>How many black cosplayers put no effort whatsoever into their cosplays, not even bothering to try to match the character's hairstyle or traits because they're doing a "black version" of the character? It's truly fascinating what lengths they'll go to to apply cheeto dreads to anything
Is the Sunday afterparty typically worth extending a stay for? I was originally going to hit the road that afternoon, but now I'm feeling a bit of FOMO.
>>10948618I get it. They want representation in nerd spaces, But it's just gotten so watered down and overdone. We get it, you're black, you like anime, you "cosplay"
But it's always the same, They only seem to focus on Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto and bleach and if you say you don't like or care for any of those, ESPECIALLY ONE PIECE they are like "You just don't understand deep stories and you're racist"
Oh and the "I am trans - I watch anime and cosplay - What's life like?" and it's just them trauma dumping on a room full of people about how shitty their life is and how anime and cosplay was an escape for them.
>>10948836Only if you don't want to miss the orgy.
>>10948980>a stank weeb couple sits by (You) and says "We noticed you from across the bar and really like your vibe"
>>10948982my ultimate fantasy... the only thing that allows me to maintain an erection...
>>10948996Aren't you supposed to go as something other than your regular day-to-day self?
I've been trying to buy a parking spot but the GWCC website can't complete the transaction
I really hope the site isn't lying to me about availability
>>10949512I had this issue as well, Had to use a different card.
>>10948996Do people still give you cash? Honestly you should become a used car salesmen at this point because you have the skills for it.
Going to MomoCon myself. I've only been to a local con in my area, which was rather small, so going out of state to a presumably bigger convention is a little nerve wracking yet exciting. Not going as anything big or flashy, just a simple shirt and clothes that resemble John Egbert. I'd like to go as his God Tier but I don't think I'd have the time nor money.
>>10949757Momo's in a pretty large event space, so everything is pretty spread out. It doesn't feel too packed in. Hopefully you enjoy it.
This one feels less anticipated than the last few Momocons, to me at least. Does anyone know of anything cool happening this year that's outside the norm?
I'm going this year. It'll be my first con. Only reason I'm even going, apart from wanting to go to a convention at least once in my life, is because there's a renaissance fair happening like a half hour away on that same weekend, which is something I've also wanted to do. So I get to knock out both things in one trip.
>>10949760I think given the current political environment, people aren't as excited to go, knowing that the market for cons, which was already pretty bad is going to get a whole lot worse. I'm not here to debate politics or pick sides, it's just a fact - many folks aren't going to be able to afford cons and many dealers and artist will be really feeling the pressure with increased pricing on items that are already jacked way up.
Not to mention other events and guest at cons could be heavily affected, too.
>>10949766Oh shit, for real? Which one? That sounds interesting. Would be inclined to bring my armor and garb. Though odds are I'll probably be too busy.
>>10949757I hope you've a fun time!
>>10949907>Oh shit, for real? Which one?George Renaissance Festival. It's about half hour southwest of Atlanta. Lasts from April 12 to June 1st (only open on the weekends). I'm told it's one of the bigger Renaissance fairs in the country so I hope it's a good one to start on.
I'm doing some Girls Frontline stuff and Kaiju no 8 stuff this year. Probably bringing my Zaku head for the Gundam meet up, and showing up to the Toku meet up in Super Sentai gear.
>>10949891>poorfags get culled>i can now afford a room at SigniaExactly what I voted for
>>10949766You should attend the chaos that is DragonCon at least once before you die and attend the 5 days of partying there.
>>10949982Like GFL cosplay? Also nice I'll be at the gundam photoshoot. I need to finish my mobile suit head but I'll most likely be in my main gundam cosplay.
>>10949987>"save" some at hotel room>get your pockets raped by literally everything else
>>10948073 (OP)Going woth a friend cause he wants to see the vtuber thing. I have only ever went to animazement. I hope parking is easy enough after prepaying and we don't need to pay extra for that vtuber thing cause ky friend might be devastated, took a hotel like 30min outside of Atlanta since I have to take hwy 85 from Charlotte I might as well stay at a hotel on hwy 85.
Still going to go in my seta soujiro cosplay, not that anyone knows to character under 28.
>>10949982>Girls Frontline I have made 2 tokarev body pillows and printed 3 keychains. I'm not selling them, I am just gloating for making my own work of my wife printed.
Also what is your favorite tdoll and where are these events? I am also an /m/fag.
I have a newfag question as someone who has never been to a con but is going to this one. How does admission work? Do they have folks at the front doors (like a desk or something) you tell them your name or show them the QR code and they give you an lanyard that says you can go in or what?
Also, how clean are the restrooms on average?
>>10950318Yeah, I'm showing up as Shikikan from Exilium. I've got my Makarov functional (blowback and working trigger.) although I might cut the spring a bit short just so I can get the fucking guide rail to stop dislodging. Made the fucker myself out of foam. I should be showing up to the Gundam Meet up with a red Zaku head on thursday, I've also got a green zaku and a gouf with me, and if I have enough time to buy a fucking flag staff, we should be showing up with a neo zeon flag too.
>>10950365https://www.momocon.com/2025-convention-schedule/
Literally go down to the public meet ups, I'm actually kind of horrified that 4 blerd meet ups went through but Girls Frontline 2 didn't.
>what's your favorite t-dollGrizzly MK V, and AK-12.
barring that for GFL2.
Klukai and Vector.
>>10950367Yes, it will be a long-ass line; they scan QR, give you and lanyard and you are g2g
Can't speak for ladies restrooms, but I had no issues with mens' rooms last year.
>>10950370Sounds awesome. Please update the thread if an unofficial GFL meetup happens, I'd love to take some shots - especially for high effort crafting.
So whats the dealer and art lobby like at momo compared to cons like animazement.
>>10950370>AlanaBased
>>10950375NTA but I'm up for meeting other gfl anons. Hell I'll exchange gfl1 and 2 friend ID here if people want.
>>10950375For sure. I think in the US, we're currently Nikke country for obvious reasons but I'm hopping to run into a few T-Dolls myself.
>>10950405I honestly end up fucking off to Dealers room for fucking ever, but I've slowed down on spending. It's massive, and like one of the only AA's I know that consistently has Phase connect and Limbus Company stuff if you look properly.
Which hotel room you boys staying at anyways? If you're there early enough, I could just send you guys to our guild dinner party if you don't end up being a bad experience like the other seagulls I've ran into.
>>10950421I'm staying 30min out and commuting into the area since I only decided to go to momo like 2 weeks ago when a friend, who wanted to meet buffpup there, asked me if I wanted to go.
first time at momo and I am trying to go blind as can be. Already paid for a parking spot fri-sun and paid for everything, only worry now is trying to both get dressed and put on makeup while in the parking lot. I somehow got my cosplay on last year at az doing that.
>>10950370Nice! I'd love to go to a GFL meetup, I don't really play the game but I absolutely love the art. I also own a lot of GFL patches. I'll have a zeon flag from the one year war, I keep it on a collapsible flagpole so it makes it easy to walk around with.
Who wants to hunt down IkenotMike together?
>>10950375>Yes, it will be a long-ass line; they scan QR, give you and lanyard and you are g2gHow early do they open the doors so that I can avoid the line? Or, more rather, when do people who have the same idea I do tend to gather around?
>>10950480Much like DragonCon the lines are typically long unless you go much later in the day when people have already gotten badges. QR scanning at least makes the lines go quickly so its not the worst thing in the world.
>>10950484So I really just shouldn't sweat it that much and not try to get there so soon? I mean, I don't have a schedule for whatever events are going on there. I'm just going for the sake of going to a con and just seeing what is there in general. So it would probably be better to maybe make my way there in the afternoon or something?
>>10950486Just saying if you get there early, there's likely still going to be a line. But its not some insane 40 minutes to an hour thing. Even DC for as large as it is typically gets you in and out in about 20 minutes.
>>10950487I see. I'm only gonna be at the con for thursday and friday. I know that there are separate badges because I got emailed two different codes. Do they hand out for both at once or am I only gonna get the badge for the day ON the day?
Which days are best for hanging outside in the courtyard at night?

Pain
>>10950494Like Friday and Saturday.
>>10950449Dual flag gang.
>>10950486Bro just wait in line, both the QR code line and the reg in general takes like maybe 10-15 mins only because of there being so many people in generals but there might be an early pre-reg as there usually is at cons this big for day 0 shitters like me.
>>10950489On that day since you got a badge for two sep days and day to day badges are color coded.
If you're from the Atlanta area, you can also do early badge pickup too.
The schedule is up and it's complete ass. So it looks like laps around the dealers room, Artist alley and hanging out in common spots.
>>10950618Fucking insane how little there is to do this year. The chosen panels are such shit
>>10950618The standup comedy sets might be interesting provided they go the tsumicon route of letting random people come up and bomb
>>10950623Seems to be plenty of POC / LGBTQ / Plus-sized panels though, which is fine - I am all for representation, but having that many over the course of 4 days is excessive... or maybe I am just looking at the schedule wrong.
>>10950630>>10950618>Friends talked up momo, been going to animazement every year.>Black weaboos make gooner and mecha panels in ncWhat are you guys doing down here mang.
>>10950662This is the worst it's ever been brah. I've been going to Momo for years and never seen it be this bad.
>>10950662I'm really tired of this trend of panels being this "who else is a bitter suicidal retard" group therapy rooms. It's inescapable.
Do con owners think that people just don't want talk about nerd shit and have a good time compared to a few years ago?
>>10950670Fat retarded blacks and faggots have infiltrated and coopted nerd culture just like they do everything else. They have also likely embedded themselves within the group that organizes the con, or at the very least have made themselves such a loud voice that the con runners feel pressured to give in to this left wing retardation. They feel the need to turn everything into a struggle session about how fat, gay, retarded, and black they are and they get off on making others observe and listen to it.
>>10950683I agree that these gay retards are embedded in the management. I think the owners conflate attendance increases with these pity party panels; however, I think this is noncausal and the growth of anime cons has more to do with collapses in interest for things like comics in American zoomers and millennials in favor of their Asian counterparts, which has only become more pronounced over the last decade.
I would rather have someone sperg out about FOTM shonenshit as if it were deep, because at least someone is having fun and bringing positive energy that's topical to nerd shit.
>>10950685>>10950683Cons also started getting filled up with more PC normies right after covid. Folks stuck at home, found anime, then cosplay and then cons (Or cons then cosplay) and started going to cons in droves and started screeching and hollering at con staff / organizers to be more "inclusive" of their stupid ass "I have DID, ADHD, use a cane to walk, I am black and use neo-pronouns - This is how I cosplay and watch anime" type shit for panels. I am all for inclusiveness, but not at the cost of actual interesting panels about you know, ANIME that isn't One Piece, Naruto or some quirky BL series no one has heard of.
>>10950685>>10950686I have a theory as to the reason nerd culture is so susceptible to this form of infiltration. It seems to me that many nerds (at least in the period prior to the overt normification of anime and related mediums) are "go along to get along" types and are non-confrontational outside of an online setting. I believe these trannies/communists/general faggots have infiltrated these communities, become loud voices, and demanded total adherence to their ideology of the month. Nerds, fearing the possibility that they may lose the only "community" they can call their own, have thus complied in droves, never mind the fact that so many of them are mentally ill and pre-disposed towards adopting these retarded, sick practices anyway.
It is also true that the only thing a sick degenerate faggot hates more than a normal person is a faggot who is slightly less sick and degenerate than them and is unwilling to accept their sicker compulsions as natural. Thus, these nerd communities are constantly being reinforced with a desire to "prove" that you're a real adherent, lest you be cast out, meaning many of these nerd types who originally just wanted to discuss vidya and anime online are now psychologically compelled into being tranny hall monitors so they don't get kicked out of their own communities.
Or perhaps I'm giving them too much credit and they really are just total fags.
>>10950688When I look at older nerd communities like the trekkies, sfwa, and dragoncon - I think nerds have just always been pretty faggy and left leaning. That's okay. If that were a deal breaker, I'd get into fishing or something equally chud-coded, instead of cosplay and anime.
With that said, I think the pity party grifting is relatively new, as is the celebration of Munchausen's and similar diseases of narcissism. I don't like celebrating bad vibes at a con which is ostensibly a vacation or staycation for its attendees.
>>10950669People kept saying this about animazement for years which is why I wanted to try this. What do the producer and director guest panels look like? Those are usually better fron personal experience, unless dub guests.
>>10950685It is more of people wanting a gathering third place around an interest again, most died for online and the physical aspect is very different. I don't care if they are gay or trans just stay on topic or adjacent topics.
>>10950689>When I look at older nerd communities like the trekkies, sfwa, and dragoncon - I think nerds have just always been pretty faggy and left leaning.I agree but a lot om my problems with it are how they went from being left to far left. There used to be more acceptance to story context now everything is aesthetics. Slowly cons feel more like people testing waters for unhinged YouTube anime essays.
Anyways I wonder if I will see an ex friend that went super far left after discovering they are trans.
> I don't like celebrating bad vibes at a conThis, so much.
>>10950688>>and demanded total adherence to their ideology of the monthExactly this. If it doesn't fit their warped views of the world, it's considered offensive and they get triggered and try to cancel you on social media.
I'm 36 years old, Been going to cons since I was 13, going to Momocon since 2005 among other cons and it's just gotten so.... fucking bad.
>>10950690In spite of my bitching, I'm excited for weekend. Last year was my first Momocon, and I think I know enough now to have more fun than last year.
Wtf are you guys bellyaching about? I'm looking at the schedule Friday:
>sonic lore dump
>Kamen rider
>90s shounen draft
>live drawing
>AMV panels
>laughing at bad dubs
All this seems par for the course for a con, what's the pozzed shit supposed to be?
>>10950700It is my first. If there is an anon meetup I'll go but only on Saturday when I plan to cosplay.
It is going to be interesting trying to get my seta soujiro cosplay on in the open air parking lot but it is what it is.
How is the cell phone signal around that area?
>>10950722I'll check laughing at dubs and live drawing since I am an amateur artist lmao(pic related). I just want to know if this is the final thing since theres not much production or director stuff.
>>10950722I get where they're coming from, I'm hosting the video game panel at 1am on friday morning and theres multiple queer/black/diversity panels at better timeslots pretty much every day. Its not like theyre taking up the whole schedule but I wouldn't mind getting a better timeslot and I'm sure we're missing out on some better panels that could have been accepted instead.
>>10950874I will now come in your panel.
Which one?
>>10950881It's probably this one
>>10950727>>10950874Disregard, I was looking at the large panel schedule instead of the fan one. I suck cocks
>>10950883:)
Shen will be there, not as Shen but will still be blue
Going for the first time this year. are the parties usually any fun? Want to make new friends.
I'll be cosplaying as a character from Jojo and Umineko :)
>>10951066Friday and Saturday nights are usually pretty chill in the courtyard between the Omni and the GWCC, but I've heard rumors of stuff going on over at the Signia, too.
>shuts down efforts to coordinate j-fashion programming for years
>finally lets us have a fashion show
>it's just "otakucore" faggotwear
>lolita swap meet scheduled at 10 AM
why does momocon hate lolitas so much
>>10951155Cons hate lolitas in general, sadly
>>10951157Why? They aren't a draw like regular cosplayers?
>>10951158Lolita guests are usually expenisve to bring out and Lolitas are niche even within conventions, they aren't a good ROI as in cons lose money doing lolita-related events without getting much back.
>>10951145You're telling me. I still have to work on the leg armors for half of this shit, and paint all of this, this weekend dude. Hopefully I'm done by next week, it's a long ass drive from up North.
>>10951155Real talk, I think the programming and staff this year looks dogshit over all. I got a bone to pick with the approved photoshoot meet ups this year, but I think I'm going to be spending more time hanging out than actually doing any of them.
Ugh this bullshit about the Saturday rave being a separate ticket again.
>>10950688Tell me you've never experienced a convention without seeing a yaoi paddle in your life without telling me you've never seen a yaoi paddle. Conventions and the fandoms have always been woke you retard.
>>10951275Dig up a con schedule from around 2010 and tell me how many tranny worship panels are on the card
You're the colonizer here fagboy
>>10951218I'm not really thrilled about some of the tabletop game sessions being similar con dlc either, out of principal.
At least the rave is defensible in the sense that they need a cutoff because of the fire marshall.
>>10951289Yaoi-con existed in 2001, cope. Go back to watching your lolicon shit, pedo.
>>10951289Why do you even want to go to a convention that supports woke things, filled with woke content, and woke people? Make it make sense. You know you can not attend, right? You attending is validating wokeness, so keep it up. Keep giving your money to woke causes.
>>10951289LGBT+ panels existed in 2010 and before then, too. As far back as I can remember since my first con back in 2002. Anime cons have traditionally been a very pro LGBT space; a lot of people use cosplay/crossplay to play with their gender or sexual identity.
>>10951298Some of the most popular animes too have queer representation. Naruto, Sailor Moon, One Piece, Demon Slayer, and so many more. It's seriously mind blowing these people consume this content, have these "opinions" and still want to attend queer friendly spaces, while watching queer representation media.
>>10951295considering most of the other cons here simply do line enforcement/capping the venue I don't buy that as a good reason.
Con raves aren't good enough to justify a ticket, being a silly con rave is the point, to go in and out mess around, etc..
>>10951296>Santa Clara CAHmmm I wonder why the gay porn con had to be contained to Commiefornia if its so universal to the culture
>>10951297I was going to cons before it was okay to have MAP flags for sale in the vendor hall. One of us encroached on the other.
>>10951298>>10951299>we were here before so that gives us the right to make it all about usWhite people moment
>>10951303I agree with you. I just think there's a steelman case for making it a ticketed event. Not really a fan of this growing trend of dlc programming.
>>10951299I'm starting to see why I fell out of this kind of thing.
Cons used to just be a fun expression of love for generally nerd culture.
Anime really took off because it has style and mature stories.
But lately the fags just try and gatekeep the fuck out of cons anymore.
It's not even about a love for anime for them. Because they tend to only go on about themselves and lay claim to anything they have a remote emotional response to.
"That's my son" is the most fucking cringe thing I hear come out of another person's mouth, and these freaks speak it like it's socially acceptable.
I miss when anime fans had class, or at the very most were toxic for being so invested in the series that their understanding of life revolved around it.
Anymore, the fanbase makes anime about them, not the show, nah them personally.
Thanks for reminding me of why the fuck I don't go to cons anymore. I almost forgot.
>>10951299>crossdresser characters >queer representation I feel like thats grasping at straws
>>10951311This is really embarrassing. What's next, complaining about the fags and women who are into interior decorating? This hobby is in no small part about making elaborate costumes, of course it's going to lean a bit fruity.
>>10951309You see 2 or 3 gay panels out of 100 and think "they're making it all about them"
>>10951275Massive difference between yaoi paddles and faggot nigger struggle session hour and you know it Jew. One is harmless fun and the other is more akin to a graduate school lecture
>>10951337>harmless funsomeone's never been hit with one
>>10951309It was literally always okay to sell "map flags" at a vendor hall. I don't know wtf your point is here lol. Once again, please keep giving your money to the gay agenda and cry harder. I'm sure you can talk to some nazi about anime at the RNC.
>>10951337Stfu you fucking fetus. It's so fucking clear you've never attended a con with a goddamn yaoi paddle.
>>10951311I bet you were one of those losers who had a glomp me sign and are now a bitter fuck because nobody wanted to give you a hug.
>>10951297Your entire argument basically boils down to "you should cede spaces centered around things you enjoy to me, because I've decided to make them all about me." You are an insidious faggot and I hope you hang yourself. Enjoy the anal parasites and inevitable AIDS that comes with your diseased lifestyle.
Unfortunately it takes just one /pol/sperg to suck the enthusiasm out of the room a week out. Why are you itt if you don't even go to cons anymore?
>>10951442Been attending this con for years. Will likely go anyway despite the schedule being lame. The issue here is not that these panels exist, it's that there are like 15 of them spread out over the entire con. You could have filled those slots with something actually interesting instead of letting ten blerds go sit in a room and discuss the importance of letting blacks use their natural hair when cosplaying. 1 or 2 of these types of panels is whatever, clearly enough of these people attend to warrant them having a space of their own. But filling multiple slots across all days of the con is silly. It's an anime, comics, and gaming convention, not a black/trans/queer anime, comics, and gaming convention.
>>10951445just for fun I downloaded the momocon app.
There is 1 LGBT panel on Thursday.
There is 1 gay AMV panel on friday.
There's 5 black focused panels (1 thursday, 2 friday, 1 saturday, 1 sunday)
This is what you're mad about. 1 or 2 panels a day .
>>10951447Any of them yaoi? Asking for a fren.
>>10951448I already uninstalled the app but I forgot to check yaoi or yuri (or BL/GL) as search terms. But that is talking about anime/manga and therefore should be fine.
>>10951457that's still only 13 panels. And you're mad there's black panels at a con in Atlanta, a city that's almost 50% black. You're throwing a tantrum on cgl of all places because 13 out of what, 50? 75? panels aren't catering to you. Go apply to do a panel if you hate it so much.
>>10951471You probably shouldn't go to cons in a city where half the population is black if you don't want to be around black people
>>10951518Not on this website they are not.

How safe is the area btw? Trying to figure out how much luggage to bring and dont want to be robbed on the train to my hotel.
>>10952184It's a deep South shithole with lots of sketchy niggas. However, if you're rolling in during the day, you should have no issues and the con has shuttle service to most of the partner hotels.
>>10952189Damn I got a hotel that’s further north so I have to take Marta, fucking sucks solo traveling to majority black areas
>>10952190If you're white you should be fine, most crime is black on black and if you're staying up in midtown you're not in a really bad area, South of tech is a bad part of town so avoid that. I grew up in Marietta and have walked around atl in the middle of night solo plenty of times and the worst that's ever happened is some homeless dudes asked me for some cash. I used to live in Denver and the homeless there were way worse, unresponsive drug zombies that would threaten you on occasion, in atl they just ask for cash or try to sell you shit. All anecdotal of course, but I've never had any issues at momocon or awa.
>>10952190Lol a nigga literally got shot on Marta just the other day, be careful bro. Wouldn't stray too far from the hotel/the touristy areas. It's easy to get mixed up and end up in the wrong part of town in Atlanta.

I go downtown every fucking weekend (Uber though) from 15 miles up north of where the con is. And I hang around until 4AM drunk as fuck every time at the local rave/EDM scenes. Never had any issues.
People take the MARTA to get the airport with luggage every damn day, it's probably the most common usage. It is annoying to deal with hobbling homeless but unless you're coming in at a weird time you'll likely be on the train with mostly normal people.
Only thing you'll need to keep in mind is MARTA closes around 2AM so if you're leaving the con late you'll have to Uber instead, hopefully your hotel isn't too far north.

Hello /cgi/, /MLP/ regular/local to Atlanta.
I make this post to ask help from a fellow anon/seagull. You see, later on today around 4pm, I am supposed to take part in a qualifying round of a tournament. I humbly ask for someone to lend me their badge for that 30 minutes (possibly up to an hour) during said timeframe. Not only will I be indebted to you, I'll do everything in my power to help you out throughout the weekend (carry your merch/luggage to the room, ice cold water/booze runs, and even some 420 dude weed lmao)
Should I make it pass qualifying, and potentially make it into top 8/win the tournament, I'll even slide you part of the winnings.
I have posted my contact information in the spoiler if you're interested/willing to help. Thank you very much for listening to my request/plea for help

Another Momocon down. Still the blandest ATL con but fun in its own way. Having an exhibitor badge without being an exhibitor is still the best way to do things.

>>10952977It’s actually worth it to get a room within walking distance if you know how to play your cards right. Otherwise enjoy your uber and marta fees.
>>10952986Momocon is weird in the sense that all the blerds I met were way the fuck more cultured than the out of towners when it came to anime. Like straight up when me and my roommate were doing the Zaku / Gouf / Zeon trooper group, we had Sieg Zeons and hitler saluts thrown at us by them while the white feddies just looked in disgust. Shit reminded me of the Afrikaans who served for the axis during WW2, so I had a giggle.
>>10952780I’m so pissed you guys ended up on Vshojo when we split off.
I had a blast at MomoCon this year! I wish the cops in the courtyard weren't dicks all weekend but oh well. Thursday night's courtyard had the best vibes but Saturday was fun till I blacked out LOL. I also got invited to my first ever room party (probably because of my two female con buddies I drink/roomshare with). I'll see you all next year with bigger and better cosplays.
I'm still kinda surprised Atlanta has such a big nerd scene - between AWA, Momocon, and of course Dragoncon.
This con made me realize I need friends to do these with, I went in wanting to socialize but didn't get into any convos until the evening
>>10953058Same I was with my friend but really need more friends
>>10953058>>10953062I wish I didn't go with my friend and could meet people easier. Probably not coming all the way from nc to Atlanta next year though. My friend was being the downer most of the convention and half of thats was him not taking meds and just not putting him self in the moment to actually do things. Missed both friday night and Saturday night because he wanted to go back to the hotel and I didn't want to repay parking and lose hours.
Does anyone know what those French commando people are supposed to be?
>>10953069for real I saw a meetup of like 10 of them.
>>10953067>>10952977Getting hotels within walking distances is the cheat code to a good con experience. (Even more so if you cosplay. You'll never catch my ass driving in cosplay.)
>>10953076My friend doesn't have full employment and could only pay like 60 for the whole hotel back to me so I was on a sub 120 a night budget which couldn't get me right near the con in walking distance.
Might just go in two years alone and stay in the signia though I'm getting old I'm 30 by then. Being alone will give me freedom but I still need to know where the comfy panels are, I had only like 2 that felt like more of a hangout spot.
