Posted last year and I'm posting again this year.

I'm going to attend and cosplay at FanExpo Philadelphia this year. I was just wondering if anyone else was going to attend or if anyone's been there before.

yes, all three days
>DOIN
Not sure. The guy that played Gimli is there, and they say he's fun. I had fun at the arcade last year, so I'll probably do that for a bit.

>GOIN
Yeah, probably Saturday and Sunday. Fuck paying the weekday parking rates on Friday.
>DOIN
Mainly just going because it's local to hang out with friends. Prolly stop by a few of the celebrity panels.
>COSPLAYIN
Ehh idk something comfy because I don't really take this con too seriously.
>HOPES
Hoping Mel Gibson has a meltdown, or someone has a public meltdown over him being there.

Which panel are you looking forward to the most?

I'm going, but it really seems like it's always trekkies and star wars fans and capeshit.
I'm mostly excited to hunt around in the artist alley.

>Goin
Yeah
>Doin
Mostly comic book related things. Buy anything cool I see, get some shit signed by Scott Snyder, Charles Soule, etc.
>Cosplayin
Wildcat, hopefully.
>Hopes
Have fun with some friends who have never been to a con and that autograph prices for the comic pros aren’t too absurd.

I do see the huge Star Wars and sci-fi boom which I don't mind. I was considering going as Deckard from Blade Runner at some point.

Badge just came in the mail, so that's nice.
Friday looks meh to me, but the Shatner panel and Idol fest on Saturday are up my alley.

Wildcat cosplay has come out decently. I bought tape for my hands which was probably a mistake since it’s not adjustable, and I ended up wrapping my hands too tight while testing it, and so I’ve basically just wasted a bunch of tape.

I met John Davies years ago at NYCC. He is cool. Ask him for advice if you wish.

Is there going to be another marathon that weekend? Last year that was an unexpected nightmare for me. A quick Wikipedia trawl makes me think that was the Broad Street Run, done on the first Sunday of the month, but I don't remember the exact date of the con last year.

Broad Street Run was last week. The con last year was also the first week of the month. You won't have to deal with it this year.

I'm from the area but I hadn't gone in prior years. Do people usually chill out around Independence Mall or maybe up the Parkway towards the Art Museum?

Same. I only went on sunday last year, alone, didn't get the full experience.

I don't think I can even get to Philadelphia due to the NJ Transit strike.
Amtrak tickets are ridiculously expensive. Bus service during the weekend is not great.

I think what I have to do is bike for 1.5h to get to a SEPTA station. It might be kind of fun. I didn't think it'd be that close.
Just gotta bring a towel and I should be OK-ish in terms of sweat.
Good night! Best of luck tomorrow everyone.

Some stuff I got signed yesterday.
Rags Morales was fun to meet. He shouted after me “WILDCAT!!!!” because that’s who I was dressed as, and he then revealed to me he was the first artist to draw Wildcat with hand wrappings, because up until then, it had only been fingerless gloves.
Jackson Lanzing, Phillip Kennedy Johnson, and Tim Sheridan were also great to talk to. Didn’t speak much to Charles Soule, though.

Also the hand wrapping mention is significant because I was wearing the wraps as Wildcat.

damn, but I hate parking in the city
Con was pretty good. Best costume was undoubtedly that Zaku guy.
They didn't have the game room this year, but I practiced with the Saber Guild. That's pretty great.

did anyone try that Old Bill's soda stuff? I liked it, but I'm pretty sure it was basically pure sugar
