I went without any sort of plan and it was great.
Dokomi has so many halls there's definitely something you'll catch. And foods' not bad either.
Seconded around the water situation. There's a store in the middle of Dusseldorf Messe that sells both water and that sparkling atrocity but you have to know to go there. And they close at 18:00 or something brain damaged like that.
I think one day I ended up making do with ice cream until I could swing back to my hotel for something.

I always refill my bottle from the bathroom taps, never had issues. German tapwater is drinkable just fine. Dunno what those people are talking about.

That's disgusting, people shit in that room.
The problem is just that there's very few places to buy a bottle of water. There's like 7 halls, and only one place that sells a bottle of H20 IIRC. If you don't know about the Messe store you're screwed, and people who don't want to pay like 3 eur a bottle can end up passing their asses out on the pavement.
The "situation" could be solved by simply sticking up an A4 printer page up at the doors with quite literally the phrase "Wasser im Messeshop zu kaufen!" at 20 point font.

Anon... have you SEEN the bathrooms at Dokomi? Sure if I was in my hotel room? no issues using tap water on a sink I know is relatively shit free. Those bathrooms get fucking mental by the time it's noon.

Last few dokomi the mens bathrooms specifically look like dumpsters halfway through the day. Enjoy getting whatever shits and post con sickness by doing that.

Had no plans at all and just went with the flow. Ended up buying some stuff from the AA and the TCG corner. Despite being there early, it was still not nearly enough time to check out everything in peace. For next year, I might do the 3 days without the rave.

Few panels aside, everything else is in or speaks English. Majority of dealers are non-German and in the AA you have a ton of artists even from America, Asia and Australia. Same for visitors that are from all over Europe nowadays. It's pretty much an international con now, so you will be fine.

I'd say yes, but if you want the full experience and all the fine nuances and stuff, you'll have to get fluent until next year. Just kidding, the app is available in English and most people you'll meet will speak at least passable English, but for panels it depends.
