I'm going to Otakon down south this year. It's just the more interesting and better run show.
I heard that the big asian guy who was runs down dealers with multiple radios on his head got demoted. He was running dealers for years. Instead some muslim woman is running the dealers room. Is that true?
I've heard multiple times that key staff are incredibly upset at the head honchos (big woman with her paranoid husband). I am surprised people still staff this event after all the shit I've heard.

Never been but I live in the US like 5-6 hours drive away, had a friend in the area invite me to go. How worth is it? I usually go to anime Boston and enjoy it a lot. Is there a late night or party scene at all after?

It's the best Canadian con in the area in terms of JP guests and panels usually, which is not saying much. Party Scene seems kind of dead for the con, there's an indoor rave that goes late but room parties are hit or miss. Frogs are friendly and its easy to strike up a conversation with randoms at this con. Honestly if I was you I'd rather go to US cons.

I haven't pre-reg yet. It's in a few weeks from now.

A few years ago, I got called a retard for criticizing the leadership and the staff community.
Yeah, these 3 are retards getting outsed could be good but, a switch in the leadership may not change much because the problem remain the operational culture of the con (lets not forget that these 3 were the only ones who took this free, unpaid, volunteer thing as a full time job). Staff retention will remain a problem if they still think gaslighting, guilt tripping, and a bag of useless junk are effective strategy in keeping staff.
On the otherhand, a change in management may also fundamentaly change the con to the point that it will affect your enjoyment of the con for the long time attendees, something more casual and more sanitized for the corpors. We could even expect more paid dlc just to suck money out of our wallet.

I've done it, I have lost 20 pounds right before the con. This wont change anything but at least I will not feel like a fat fuck right before I wolf down poutine.

I remember when it was barely 20 or 30 bucks for a single day on the Saturday in the mid 2000's when I went there the first time. I think it was Otakuthon 2007 or 2008, but it wasn't as filled normies as it has gotten now. There were several years I skipped going completely.

The staff have no life and regularly have an eye out on reselling sites like marketplace. It's not allowed to resell your badge because your name is linked to the rfid chip.
