Been going to ACEN for only 3 years now and was talking with a lot more people this year. I didn't even know about the suicide last year and I didn't think cosplay was so serious that groups would bring/threaten each other with guns.

Staying out of schizo drama unless there's a chance of getting money or getting laid out of it is usually a good life choice.

As for cosplay? Favorite is tricky, there were a lot of strong ones, but I was happy to see va11halla getting some rep.

the red pill about dramafags and the like is that nobody actually cares about them except for people with vendettas and the staff of whatever event they're shitting up (so they can make sure they don't go full retard)
you utter the usernames of any of those fags to the average acen attendee and they'll probably think you're naming a character from guilty gear or whatever

Aside from posting here I stay as far the fuck away from it as I can.

Anyways, I saw a Sneed Cosplay, and multiple chris chans.
ACEN this year wasn't really as good as last year which sucks ass.

For those wondering who are newfags. Midwest will be more of the same but more closely knit, roughly the same size as ACEN but less halls and not a 24/7 con. It closes at 7. The hidden tech you do at Midwest is near closing, you run over to the parking garage that is across from the Hyatt, and check if theres any empty spaces. If there is, go over to the main garage where your car is at and drive over.
It reduces the walking time from the Hyatt to the Garage by 10 minutes, and allows you to stay at the Hyatt where panels and shit are ran through the night.

Midwest has a lot more "community" too it because 90% of it is all Chicago locals who can't go to AX for various reasons. The Panels are very fun and interactive because they can afford to be.
The only downside to Midwest and Con Alt Delete is they are ran by a fat pedophile (unproven) who gives people the creeps. But you'll never see him so thats a plus.

Anime Magic is smaller than Midwest but it's where i've personally had the most fun. Last year we were out playing musical chairs near the food trucks in full cosplay, with people playing anime music on their guitars and shit. Very fun con, again closes at around 7 PM but I find the panels at the Hyatt are great.
Some of the best panels i've ever had are at Magic, and this and Midwest are where you see the most unique cosplays because people are debuting them to get reactions.

My favorite from Magic was a Green Goblin from Spider-Man 1 made out of plaster. It was really good and fucking funny to look at. You'll find more turbo weebs and if your autistic and like anime you'll have more fun here.

Magic INK'd and CAD are more of the same, skip one go to the other depending on who you are. Both are Hyatt only cons but still are pretty fun. INK'd is more aimed towards tattoo nerds for some reason, so keep that one in mind.
CAD was pretty fun this year.

Theres Fan Expo that is your comic con and they have very LIGHT anime stuff there. Do NOT do big cosplays or anything that impedes vision at Fan Expo cause holy FUCK was it crowded last year and while I got good pictures, was genuinely fucking up my enjoyment being wall to wall with people who dont know how to fucking walk.

As for C2E2, never been honestly, don't wanna drive into the city for a con.

Midwest is just a good con. I do think eventually magic will overtake them. They already have people who will go to magic instead because of the allegations. I think they just need to fix some key structural things but everyone I've talked to always has fun when they go

ACEN's only good perk is that it doesnt die on sunday because 90% of the folks there are chicago locals. Compare to magic and midwest's sunday which is depressing as hell

Magic's sundays are depressing, while ACEN's sundays are still lively and fun.

If I go out of state for a big con i'll usually fly out late sunday and get back early monday and see that con close down.
But for in state cons I only go sunday if theres panels or events I wanna see.

midwest is looking pretty barren in terms of guests this year fellas.
I'd be surprised if Greg Aryes doesnt cancel yet again for a 5th year in a row.
