>>10953139Okay, so, let me try to be even more blunt and literal here; in order to understand the motivations behind the laws that bigots are enacting, you have to understand gender-nonconforming identities (non-cis) are NOT costumes OR performances and that there are distinct differences between them, which is why each of these concepts go by different names and are not all referred to as one thing.
Drag performances involve a performer embodying a persona of the oppisite sex and gender identity; a cis man embodying the persona of a cis woman (dragqueen), a cis woman embodying a cis the persona of a cis man (dragking).
The Florida law would not apply to cross dressing cosplay because you are not "embodying" a oppisite cis persona and performing as such, you are WEARING clothing.
Equally, being trans is not a drag performance because you are not embodying and performing as a persona; you are living as your athentic self. You feel you ARE, you are not putting on an identity for a "show" and then taking it off afterwards; you post transition are you and so there is no performance to "report".
I'm being so nit-picky because, even though these laws are stupid to begin with, you have to really understand what their aimed at in order to defend yourself if you get accused of breaking them.
This is not the time to over-generalize people and lump them all together. It's important to understand being a drag performer currently in-character is different from an anime costume thrown on top of yourself and that's very different from being transgender. Until these unfair laws are appealed, you HAVE to stop free-associating everything together in one pile.
