Yeah I did. Thats why I made the thread. It's mostly like a con, except a lot of cornrows, braided, nappy haired blacks around. And no, Im not white. It has a dealer room and such, but the panels are all more black focused cause they're ran by the typical political orientated black. It was formed because non-whites got sidelined as guests at cons because there's less demand for them in the community as a whole (most people want Japanese industry guests the most), which was something that was sorta talked about for a while until San Japan's organizer said the quiet part out loud (picrelated). Now we got this blerd hugbox which I personally think was started with good and proper intentions (now they can have all the POC guests they want and there's no "discrimination"), only for it to devolve into the "well, well, well" chimpouts and fights you see on Twitter a few years after being founded. They keep changing their venue every couple of years too, I basically learned from this thread that it's now in Houston and not in Austin anymore.

Outside of the obvious nigga shit going down I don't see much wrong with the convention. I was looking to go becuase it did look super fun but it's way out of my budget. To be honest black people in general aren't looked at too fondly in most otaku spaces unless you're a flatout coon or have very for affiliation with black people. Blacks especially have it the worst in cosplay community to where they have to make their own spaces anyways so having a convention with people that look like you make sense. Even though nerd conventions have a lot of insane stuff going on like predators it's just extremely focused on and criticized when blacks are involved.

However best of luck to them and I do hope they make the needed changes to their convention.
