Dragoncon hype and prep thread

Now that Momocon is over and we're less than 90 days out from the biggest con in the southeast I thought I'd make a thread.

Questions for thread:

What are y'all cosplaying as?

Did you get a room or are you fighting the uruk-kai on Marta

Con wishlist? Panel predictions? Guest predictions?

Any fun stories from previous conventions

How does this convention usually go when it comes to weebshit? One of my buddies told me about Dragoncon a few years ago and how fun it is, but it sounded like a generic comic con and I don't really dabble in western comics or TV anymore so I feel like I'd just be lost here.

>but it sounded like a generic comic con

Your friend is a retard. What generic con runs 24/7 from Thursday through Monday? I'd like more of these cons, please point me in that direction.

That aside it is disappointedly lacking in anime relatively. The older con runners seem to be resistant on adding more paneling for popular stuff that isn't in the old star wars, star trek, doctor who wheelhouse.

Cosplays it doesn't matter though, tons of anime cosplay, just not much in terms of paneling.

The nice thing about that is that if you're an anime fan it's actually easiest to clique up with other anime fans then at something like momo since y'all are a relatively smaller portion.

got invited to two room parties just because I was in anime cosplay kek

That could be a function of people at Dcon generally being more social.

I don't think there is a con where people are more open to getting to actually talk to people outside their friend group these days.

I live in GA about 30 min away from Dragoncon. It's a giant nerd party that goes hard for half of a week long. Whatever fandom you consume there are people for it. It's 4 hotel wide if you don't count the vendor hall which takes up 3 more and all the land connecting them are pretty much fair game for people with/without badge to walk around.

Are going solo or with friends? First time goer, I'd suggest cosplay with something light and can walk around if you want to see all the stuff. Download the app and mark the stuff you want to see if hope you get make it to half of them. Friday and Saturday is when you see some awesome cosplay.

I'll be bringing a Hecu Grunt for Thursday, little green paratrooper on Friday, Teddy Roosevelt on Saturday, and the an Atlantis the Lost Empire mook for Sunday, and then my traditional gopnik track suit to be comfy the last day of the con.
I managed to get a room. My cosplays have too much shit for me not to.

Me and some friends are gonna be an ODST squad from Halo, if you see this helmet come up and say hello, Iโ€™ll be giving out ribbons and possibly even minis of whiskey, vodka and tequila if youโ€™re chill

Distinct is good. But also comfort.
I'm skipping my Doomguy this year. Help save room while packing and it's a bitch to wear all day.
What outfits do you have planned?

comic con is family oriented and closes it's doors at like 9pm, dragoncon is 24/7 party, but yeah it's not super anime oriented unfortunately

most of these are under the umbrella of "I had a drunk hookup and regretted it the morning after so that was literally rape"
