I went last year and was sick for an entire month. Attendees hardly shower and are generally dirty people so itโ€™s no surprise desu. In my experience the less germ free conventions are comic cons and other normie cons.

As expected of a gamer con. Awful hygeine, at best they smell like armpits and at worst goon stank mixed with literal shit smell.

Last gamer con I went to had someone giving out sets of bodywash and deodorant to anyone who would take one and they still didnt bother using it.

No doubt. There are some guys there that have that odorous aura around them. I wonder if calling them out loosely would do anything...

Calling them out directly saying "bro you stink please shower it is making me throw up in my mouth" and handing them soap doesn't work most of the time.

I don't think passive comments will do shit.

Maybe directly bringing it up over and over, standing further away from them every minute, and dry heaving when they raise their arms and come in for a hug or high five. Then actively compliment anyone who smells good. Maybe that gets a few shamed into showering and using deodorant.

Thinking about going for a day since it's nearby. Worth it if you're more of a weeb than a gamer though?

Hard to say deending on what you are looking for to see and do.
There will no doubt be anime cosplayers there to see and meet. I see One piece cosplayers there usually for an example. For guests many of them voiced anime dubs.
Vendors and artists selling anime style games or prints.
If you are not into gaming at all it might not be worth it. But it is hopping with arcades and nerdy crap overall.

I game but not as often anymore. Usually go to cons for socializing and nightlife but since that's not really a thing here when I'm only going for a day, guess it'd be mainly for gaming, guests, and artists. I'll probably do one of my Touhou cos since that bridges the gap, I guess?

Yes. This kind of shit is why I cant stand to go to gamer cons anymore. I used to be staff at one for a few years, and convincing our volunteers that they really do need to shower (and brush their teeth!!!) daily no matter how much they "dont sweat/stink" or my favorite, "my mom says I dont stink tho" was an uphill battle. I had to send the unbearable ones either home or up to the out of town volunteers hotel room to shower before they could return and start their shift. The possibility of missing a panel they wanted to be on break for because their shift time got pushed later was enough to make them take regular showers for the most part. Some still refused.

I dont know how the guests can handle the gamer miasma, especially the ones that frequent gamer cons and do long meet and greets or hang out with fans in the halls.

The fans are hit and miss. With some as angels and others as barbarians. One guy who had issues with social cues rushed me along at TMG to meet an actor while we were in line.
I don't personally remember bad smells that much last year but definitely a couple of times.

I'll be there.
If you see a guy with a red Reimu DDR t-shirt and shaved head, feel free to say hi. I'm hoping to put quite a few credits into the Sailor Moon beat em up and a few other games, so I'll be at the arcade.

I don't think I got to see you. In fact I completely overlooked the arcade area. I wanted to hit Dance Rush.

Not sure if it was you, but I saw a Marisa cosplayer in the line to one of the voice actors on Sunday.
I pretty much spent all the time in the arcade. Well, I did walk around the booths for probably a few hours in total: the area is huge and there is a lot of stuff so it feels like there must be some gems in there, but I didn't really find anything.
