What are some places in Cincinnati, Ohio or Covington, Kentucky area that I should try whilst Iโm over there again /ck/ frens?
What we are doing: returning to Jungle Jimโs for pure grocery store kink
What we did last year: went to the Argentinian Empanadas place in Covington. Went to the public market and got that grain sausage meat that I canโt remember what itโs called.
So Cincinnati /ck/ anons, what do you all recommend for me?
How could I not return to this?
The best fried chicken in the Midwest is 30-ish minutes west at a place called Wagner's in Oldenburg, Indiana. Strong's Pizza is considered some of the best there is. Both places have won very prestigious awards. The Kroger at the end of Vine Street is where you can see some of the more interesting Negroes the city has to offer. If you're into music, also on Vine is Bogart's, a kickass music venue, and Mike's Music is next door. Avondale is where you go to buy drugs. Don't bother with Cincy chili unless it's homemade.
>>21386054I might check out Wagnerโs we will be taking a day to check out Indianapolis. I know that Iโll be gambling at the casino in Shelbyville.
>>21386054Stringโs looks kino like 80โs-90โs Pizza Hut but pure and improved. I bet the pizza is delicious there.
This is definitely on the list
>>21386033 (OP)go to a reds game and get a chili dog from skyline
>>21386033 (OP)anytime I'm in Cinci I go to hofbrauhaus in newport and get a cold hofbrau lager and some german food. best restaurant in the midwest as far as I'm concerned.
Quan Hapa has good okonomiyaki
>>21386093My wife loves German food! She would love to go here!
>>21386155Also a good recommendation going to be difficult to decide where to go in the 2 days we will have there
>>21386033 (OP)Get some Queen City Sausage Brats or Metts while you're at Jims.
>>21386222I wonโt have a means to cook while there
>>21386222QC hot dogs are the only dogs worth eating, IMO.

>>21386033 (OP)For some wierd reason there are alot of central Asians in the Cincinnati area.
Their restaurants aren't bad. Their cuisine is similar to Turkish/Persian with some Russian and to a less degree Chinese influence.
>>21386033 (OP)Go to Skyline I beg you
Are there any newish hipster places in CinCin? I'm thinking of visiting because apparently it has bluffs with good views of the Ohio River.
>>21387813If you want good views of the river I recommend driving up the Ohio from Cincinnati on the Ohio side, then back again on the Kentucky side. Very pretty rural americana.
You can go to the party store if you like alcohol. It's like a Walmart but just for booze
>>21386033 (OP)Abigail street
Phoenician taverna
Ambar India
Skyline
Rhinegeist brewery
Thatโs all I care to hit when I go home
>>21386033 (OP)cinci is underrated af for a midwest city. its sort of the middle point between the midwest and the south. and it's not a desolate crime ridden shithole like most big midwestern cities
>>21387987I thought that Party store was a Michigan thing. Interesting.
>>21387694Any recs in that direction?
>>21388179Thanks Iโll have to look into this
>>21387659Hmmm
>>21388428Fucked my own trip up
>>21387948I am looking (ideally) for views on a bluff/hill where I may park and photograph such views.
Also looking for "New American" cuisine that isn't fine dining.
I went to Ohio once, Bowling Green it was fucking awful, did I miss out on anything?
>>21388437I had Ramen in this sort of hipster neo-diner setting in Youngstown. It was like they only had ramen one day a week and I just happened to be there on the right day. There was also a really pretty mill with walking trails along a creek nearby. I wish I could find the name of the place I had ramen at - it wasn't Japanese it was more like a hipster coffee shop serving lunch as a cafe.
ALSO, the part of Ohio near the WV border has some gorgeous hikes if you haven't done them - edge of appalachia preserve + raven's rock
and there's pretty little hollers
at piatt park and the OTHER ravens rocks which says you need a permit some places online (the ravens rock thats a view overlooking the ohio you theoretically DO need a permit from the shawnee state park ranger stations to hike) but the ravens rock that's a mini gorge near beallsville you don't , I went there saw the signage they clearly want it to be accessible to the public and it's very pretty. Piatt park has a "steeper" side if you hang a right at the divide as you head downhill (very steep! you have been warned!) but both directions take you to a swimming hole that is deep enough to not touch bottom in.
>>21386057It's on the way to Indy from Cincy if you're taking 74, which you will. Cool little town with a German character. Also, you'll pass near Batesville Casket, North America's largest manufacturer of caskets and urns. Fun happy fact: The second largest supplier of caskets is just southeast in Aurora.
>>21388491Now thatโs interesting information!
I know one place Iโll definitely be returning to this tripโฆ.
>>21388428It's called The Party Source and it's just over the river in Kentucky.
>>21388572My car is rigged for road trip.
Road trip McDonaldโs just hits different
They give you some fries to munch on while you wait for your burger.
I put malt vinegar on mine.
They got your grandpaโs music playing. Nothing but 50โs music.
Got me a pepper jack cheese and grilled onionsโฆ sooo good. Wonderful quality beef too!
>>21390384You're a cunt, I got wind of it in your Winstar thread. You pretend to be affable and humble, but actually you're insidious and narcissistic. I wish nothing but negativity for you as you're a disingenuous piece of shit.
>>21390414Thanks, your spite has given me good luck
>>21390443It's not spite. It's a genuine assessment of you. I outlined exactly how you were: your demeanor in your previous thread - gloating and being acerbic. And, once more, being so egotistical. You have so many flaws, yet portray yourself as some kind of king. You're a fucking lowlife. I didn't really have time for you, but at the same time I thought you had some level of humility. You showed your true self in the last thread.
>>21390453Are you mad that I donโt consider men in whigs to be real women?
Andyโs Mediterranean Grille, Montgomery Inn, Eliโs BBQ, Skyline chili, Jungle Jimโs, Rheingeist brewery
>>21390467Nothing to do with that, I don't consider them women either. It was the rest of it. Obnoxious, conceited, arrogant. Fucking diabolical.
>>21386033 (OP)Jungle Jim's, kek! My son worked in the bakery there for a while, I go once a week. If you head north on 4 from there (about a mile perhaps?) there's a Thai place named House of Bangkok. Last I heard it might be carryout only, but it's good. Another 600 yards north of that is a Skyline if you're in the mood. Gotta try Graeter's if you haven't had it, there's one inside the Jungle, or just grab a pint while you're shopping. Black raspberry chip is my recommendation.
any good food in and or around parkersburg or the ohio river corridor in general between cincinnati and marietta ohio ish?
>>21390476Hmm thanks for the rec
>>21390471Thanks, Iโm outside of Nashville inside of I-840 if anyone was wondering.
Looks like some good recs. Should make Kentucky by nightfall God willing.
Hey Kentucky has a casino!
>>21386033 (OP)Oh look, the bigot's back.
>>21390932Being a bigot is fine. Being and attention whoring name fag is not.
>>21390933Bigotry is good luck
>>21386043Mecca for hot sauce.
I don't really know any Cincinnati specific resatuarants that a traveler needs to go to though. Except something obvious like Skyline. Maybe Frisches Big Boy just because they're about to die out, but it's not like they're that amazing. I assume most of the stuff I like is stuff you could find in any major city. Some great food, but nothing I'd travel for.
If you're trying to save a few dollars, I'd try to find a Bibibop for lunch. It's like Chipotle for Korean food.
The place that I plan to take my friends who are new to town would be the Schoolhouse Restaurant out in eastern side of the suburbs, but that's 95% for the vibes. The food is forgetable.
Ann's India in that area is solid. Good stuff, quiet place without enough customers, but I imagine you could find good Indian places everywhere.
>>21387813Weiss Bakery makes good food. The inside sounds like a gymnasium, so on a day with good weather and eat outside. Or if you have a bitch wife who you don't want to talk to because it's a good excuse to say "lets just be quiet and eat our food because I can't hear a goddamn word you're saying".
>>21390998Nice.
We are about to go out to cookout for dinner, apparently Kentucky has some now. Also, thereโs a White Castle near the hotel. And a BBQ place.
I need one of these in dfw
Tastes like a burger cooked on a public grill at a park.
>>21386033 (OP)The grain sausage is called goetta, you should get it again. Most of the diners in the area should have it. I recommend Camp Washington Chili but it's closed Sundays. If you're there tomorrow I'm not super familiar with the Kentucky side but Fort Wright Family Restaurant is good.
>>21391250Iโll be there during the week.
That's a beautiful skyline.
>>21386033 (OP)My wife is from the area and I went to college near Cincy. Here's what we liked:
Sacred beast, condado tacos, Nicholson's tavern & pub, eckerlin meats, taste of Belgium, Cooper's hawk
Skyline over Gold Star any day ~wife
>>21386033 (OP)I guess Skyline Chili is the probably the number one thing that most locals would recommend
Not interested in it myself but I guess from the perspective of pure novelty it's probably worth doing
>>21386033 (OP)When I go to Jungle Jim's I always make sure to get a loaf of pepperoni bread.
Is there any good hipster food in Ohio? Please help!
>>21391715I need to make my own pepperoni rolls. The key is making the dough puffy, soft, and sweet, but then including both homemade tomato sauce, and cheese. I think for pepperoni rolls you want a tart thick sauce (inside the dough) with lots of herbs and maybe for the cheese mozz is a waste of time use something with more flavor like parmesan or something artisanal.
I find liquor laws to be the most obvious difference between the states
>>21386033 (OP)I was in Dayton in April. Only good thing there is the National Air Force Museum.
>>21391389>Skyline Chili is the probably the number one thing that most locals would recommendLiterally no.
>>21386033 (OP)Izzy's (get the reuben)
Montgomery Inn (get the ribs and onion straws, my favorite meal of all time)
Not a huge fan of cincinnati chili, fucking sue me faggots, but dixie chili is pretty good slop.
Lots of others but those are the best IMO.
If you gotta choose one, go to montgomery inn and get the ribs.
Just toured mammoth cave. Do you think McDowell might have been a biggot?
Found a regional soda guys!
Itโs like sprite and Mountain Dew
Had to stop at Buc-eeโs
Check out all of the different neighborhood chili parlors. There is also an underground speakeasy called Ghost Baby.
>>21392445Interesting, I have to be honest, we made Cincy chilli at home and was not too fond of it.
Having Montana steakhouse because everything else is closed in Bowling Green on Sunday.
I think I might try Cincy chilli at one of these places. Just having chili con carne is enough to make me not like the difference between it and Cincy chilli.
Pretty good southwest eggrolls
Prime rib, mashed taters.
Bbq bacon chicken with red cabbage with goat cheese.
>>21388483Name of the neo diner? I'm nearby and curious now
Iโm about to try Brusterโs
>>21392556I have no idea I found it in yelp years ago all I remember was it is somewhere in Youngstown Ohio. I wish I could find it.
I got Boston creme pie and chocolate pecan
The ice cream was super soft, flavorful, and the coneโฆ my god the cone was brittle but soooo delicious!
On a mission to find more ski, I found the mountain dude instead!
>>21386033 (OP)Wunderbar in Covington. Get whatever house made sausage they have that day. I'd suggest the curry. And the pierogis.
Op ur a biggut how dare u
Also, go to Gold Star Chili
>>21393095I think Iโm going to try a small bit o the chilli
Whatโs /ck/โs opinion of the free continental breakfast from Holliday Inn Express?
Had to check out the corvette museum. Might post photos on /o/ l8er
This is the worst as well as baurenschnitzel
Went to the wrong Jimโs Kek
I should have checked my wifeโs directions
I got bourbon pecan
She got buckeye
Got some Knobb creek
They have a liquor store Attached to the main
Listening to the band play
Why isnโt /ck/ selling 4chan cookies?
>>21394259It's worth going to both of them, the Fairfield one's the OG
>>21394359So far, Iโm liking this location
Might visit the other one
Finally, the proper ingredients for a full English breakfast
They sell certified shitposterโs hats here!
Just a hammerhead in a bathtub
>>21386033 (OP)>Covington, Kentucky Beards & Bellies Barbecue. Try the lamb ribs
>>21394412Hmm thanks for the rec.
>>21394080Hey I stayed in that hotel once when going ta reds game. There's a really nice AMC theatre next door too
>>21394687Is there any building in Cincin where I can pay to go to the top and get a nice view from?
>>21394687Interesting itโs always fun to explore different parts of America. I love road trips. I think Iโll probably buy an RV and tour the country full time some day. Would be kinda fun. Doing laundry while playing Solitaire at my hotel now.
>>21386033 (OP)>m*dwestMight as well get McDonaldโs. Itโs the best food-like substance youโll Iโll find in that hellhole. They love to claim โdurr our farmsโ, but with the average IQ of the region floating just above 50 they donโt realize that theyโre all factory farms or farms that specialize in animal feed. Go with something safe. At least McDonaldโs doesnโt serve the local industrial grade meat products that restaurants there will proudly advertise since the locals arenโt bright enough to know this.
Maybe try the cincinatti meat spaghetti just so you could say you did, but donโt expect it to be good.
>>21394745Now this is a picky eater personality that I wish I could understand the mindset ofโฆ.
Also Cincy anons. I might be forced to dine in tomorrow. Is La Rosaโs any good?
>>21394756>picky eaterHow is not being inclined to dine solely on factory farmed garbage and canned food casseroles being picky? The only thing Iโll never eat is snail and that has a lot to do with an aversion to terrestrial mollusks than it does with the flavor itself. I eat plenty of offal of multiple species, am not offended by any vegetables or seasonings and have an extremely open palate. Just because I donโt want to call preserved and industrial grade slop โgoodโ doesnโt make me picky. Simple m*dwestern hampster wheel brain is rubbing off on you, friend.
Just playing some minigolf in Florence
>>21394308I was at the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort Kentucky back in July last year for a wedding. Recommend a visit
>>21395507HYB. I got a Three Way and a Chirito when I was there.
>>21395507Where's the oyster crackers?
>>21395515Right here
We actually liked this better than when we made it at home. The hot sauce improved things.
>>21395520They need spicier stuff there
>>21395524It was definitely mild, but it definitely distracts your mind from the cinnamon flavor
>>21395513That chorito is tempting
Sorry to /sp/ post in here, but just saw the Bungles training camp
They got a really nice digital craps table here I shot for a bit. 194 into 310
Sheโs doin good on slots too
>>21388435Hope not too late, but two good spots for views are Bellevue Hill and Eden Park. Bellevue has a great view of the city and Eden is more natural with the river and hills.
My wife now likes craps. I went from 127$ to 600$ but then I put $125 on all points and she threw a 7. Should have not been so greedy. Kek
The Primavista is a really nice Italian place on the west side if you want to spend your winnings. It has a great overlook of Cincinnati
The hard rock has interesting decorations
>>21392126Going to Izzyโs
Man this place has Dr. Brownโs!
>>21396030Love their potato pancakes
>>21396049>whipped cream>no cinnamonI disapprove of this rice pudding
>>21396048They are an amazing alternative to fries
>>21396057Yeah, but Iโm in the mood for a bit of blandness
Potato chips are regional
>>21396109the Grippo's BBQ are the most classically "Cincinnati" chips
If you are still in the area, try a UDF. They have reallty good ice cream and are reasonable priced.
>>21396271Passed one earlier today
Wife says it looks like he got caught fucking the sandwiches
>>21396136This, was gonna say shoulda got the grippos. You can even buy grippo seasoning at the grocery.
>>21396420Maybe Iโll get some tomorrow
>>21392114Well you could have fooled me from all the assholes constantly recommending it every time one of these threads pops up
Visiting the aquarium saw a masculine haircut skinny gray haired tranny in a dress with earrings on. My wife gave me a eyes wide opened look.
Fish
They have young women dress up as mermaids here.
Arrived
Saw a Trump camper out back, so we must be in Godโs country.
>>21397563Those look like good cheese sticks
And our pizzaโs have arrived
Wife got the almost famous Buffalo pizza without jalapeรฑos
I took a bite and itโs delicious. Has those Grippoโs chips on it.
Well thank you for all of the Cincy recommendations. Iโll let this thread die and make a new one in a few days asking for Detroit/Toledo recommendations. Thanks /ck/ for reading my personal blog.
>>21397551>>21397559>>21397563>>21397594How was it? Was the place crowded? Going by your post times, it probably wasn't, but it usually is.
>>21395942>anon didn't go to montgomery inn>went to izzy's and didn't get a reuben>went to strong's instead of marion'sPOOR TASTE
>>21397618Good tour with OC, especially. You are a huge penisface, but thanks all the same. You switched between sounding like a 20 year old, a 40 year old and a 60 year old. I'm guessing you're between 46 and 56?
>>21397867We were the only ones in there other than the bar.
>>21397883Nobody said Marion did they? Would have hit up Montgomery inn, but wife wasnโt feeling spare ribs
>>21397888Why yes, I remember when the left hated W Bush and hung him in effigy.
>>21397916>Why yes, I remember when the left hated W Bush and hung him in effigy. That's pretty ambiguous. I remember the He-Man and She-Ra Christmas special, but I was 4 at the time.
>>21397932Close Iโm early millennial
Came back to Meijer to get the chips
I'm going to Cleveland in August. Where are 2 good places to eat?
>>21397472Your wife should do that
>>21401460Man this thread was supposed to die, and here you are giving it cpr.
Have a mermaid thot
