Depending on your taste
this could be a warning or an endorsement. I bought this box of burgers like an idiot without looking what was in them. Turns out they definitely don't need seasoning or salt of any kind.
You got a hankering for those public school cafeteria burgers you remember? Maybe the am/pm, 7/11 type gas station burger that's good in that weird way?
These are they. Plenty of soy protein and sugars and who knows what else. They're 350 calories with 6 grams of carbs for each 1/4 lb salty grease puck.
I'm living in an attic and cooking with nothing but an air fryer. Thought these would be good. I can keep them cool out on the roof and cook a couple for every meal. But these make me queasy.
So for the $12 it wasn't the amazing meat deal I thought it was. They're reminiscent more of hot dogs than hamburgers, just in their texture and saltiness. Almost spongy. If that's your thing, have at it. I'm not sure how to eat the remaining 14 of them. These patties are actually worse than what Mcdonald's serves, which I did not think was even possible.
Yet some people will really be into them. They're totally that weird burger you remember. Just maybe a little worse.

lel

they're like 25% fat which is pretty high. if you want to try to salvage it i'd overcook them to try and get rid of some of the excess fat and salt. eat it with a lot of vegetables, pickles, and mustard on bread. or chop it up into mashed potatoes which will absorb some of the fat and salt and probably add ketchup or bbq sauce on top.

do they have that off beefy smell? that's what i always remember about school hamburgers. even if they were freshly prepared it was kind of like if you had found a hamburger that was sitting outside for a while.

No that's me. Please take a shower tonight last time I came down for gay sex you smelled like fish.

I mean 25% fat is just a 75/25 blend. I usually opt for 80/20 for a standard burger, so I'd be more worried about the texture and density of the grind than anything else

I’d eat these when I moved to Kentucky as a wee lad. Seasoning salt and two pieces of plain h toasted white bread and ketchup. Yummy.

Does anyone else remember when Walmart sold instant ramen noodles labeled as "beef" and "chicken" that actually contained 0% beef or chicken in any form?
Good times.

it doesn't sound like much but it's a 25% increase in fat content along with less meat to go with it. it adds up pretty quickly. even going to 85/15 from 80/20 can seem dry.

Don't buy fat or throw away fat. Use the hamburger fat to fry potatos or sweet potatos or yams.

I mean yes and no, just depends on how you cook it once there's enough fat in the thing. Mostly would have to worry about flareups if you're grilling since it'll probably render a good bit more

Lucky you. At the very best it goes for $5/lb usually on sale. A lot of the time they want $6.99. I only buy steaks and roasts if they're $8/lb or less, which is often enough to stock the freezer.
I'm going to go in on a side of beef with a friend. No more shitty products like Extra Value Beef Patties.

They added yellow food coloring extracted from turmeric root to make it look nice.

Where did you find these patties, OP? Dollar Tree?

Walmart. I also got a side of salmon, a wheel of brie, and some London Broil. I was in a hurry. I don't usually end up with shit like that. I don't usually shop at Walmart either.

Who shops for food at Dollar Tree?

Can you share more details on your living situation? Also have you considered getting a George Forman grill or a double sided griddle?
