Pretending Bundy is actually good or compares to Caribbean rums is poser tier. If you just get Havana Club Especial when it's on special it mogs the crap out of it for mixing with ginger beer from the other, much better, drinks company in the same town.

Some dudes are actually trying to make knock off Tequila here, which is interesting and sort of makes sense given the climate but I haven't tried any of it.

At least we have Coopers, James Squire, James Boag etc.

Canโ€™t really speak for rum but my understanding of whisky is that the climate is important for cask maturation and year round warm to hot weather is the last thing you want

Rum ages much faster than other spirits because of the climate. 8 yo old rum is like 12 yo whisky.
In the end every region known for typical spirits will argue with some bullshit why their storageing is the best.

Has anyone ever tried fermenting and distilling stuff out of the bush potatoes and weird indigenous plants they have down there? Or would that be insensitive to the aboriginals because they never figured out how to do that?

I mean, we have both of those things but they're not very good
Australians don't give a fuck about making quality booze because we've always used it as a commodity for trade as well as personal consumption (not even joking, look up something called the 'Rum Rebellion')
There's no real point in making quality booze if some other cunt is just going to drink it, that's the logic

>What's going on down there?
They're a Chinese mining colony with a legacy contract to the American surveillance state. Nine tenths of the island isn't even considered habitable and the other tenth is fucking Melbourne, where you eat doner kebab avocado toast at a cafe whilst crafting your next Medium.com post about how it's actually really empowering that a "refugee" raped your daughter. Within city limits, the beverage of choice is a hard seltzer advertised by two homosexuals from Youtube. In the bush, the aboriginal white Australians prefer cheap wine ("goon"), cheaper beer ("VB"), and sniffing petrol. You wake up in the morning and wonder if British "transportation" was really more humane than capital punishment.

Look, I know it's really easy to rag on the aboriginal white Australians, but it's not their fault. They're genetic failures that were exiled from England and never stood a chance at evolving into human beings on this horrible little island of spiders and crocodiles. The best that a White Abo can hope for in life, is a free "Bunnings snag" on election day, which is of course legally mandatory (or else they get shot).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_sausage

Naturally such a weak, slovenly nation could do nothing when their Chinese investment overlords arrived to take control of the continent. But the white abos are treated well, they are allowed to keep their tribal traditions like "Australia Day", Blooming Onion, and Shrimp on the Barbie. We actually respect their ingenuity for inventing foods like "candy sprinkles on white bread", or "fairy bread" in their childlike language, a prime example of aboriginal "bush tucker".
