Me Din Dins
It's like 24°c up Norf so me Mum's done us a nice summer meal of Steak pie, mash and veg
>>21397593 (OP)how is this different from a winter meal
>>21397593 (OP)Which pie is that? It looks way better than the usual fray bentos
>>21397593 (OP)That pastry looks fucking dead and rock hard
Did your mum use short pastry? What an amateur.
It's a good dinner but idk why Brits can't make a decent pie
>>21397593 (OP)Tell your mom it looks like shit. Thanks
>>21397593 (OP)ye mum did the pie as well?
>>21397593 (OP)Why is there never any black pepper on these? If there’s a dish that needs pepper (and probably salt), it’s this.
>>21399139It looks like a premade pie and they've cooked it for too long.
Also don't generalize, you just look like a retard.
>Why can't a whole nation make a decent pie because one cunt burned a store bought one.
>>21399230>Add salt>To a pastry dish.I thought /ck/ knew how to cook.
>>21399277I meant the potatoes and peas obviously. Gravy often needs salt.
>>21397593 (OP)Sorry, 75F and this cozy hot meal doesn't scream "Summer" mood dinner to me.
To criticize further, I think the lack of fork crimping or finger width crust does mean it wasn't homemade, and yea, a bit too overdone. My mom would have ladled the potatoes with a well in the middle to hold the gravy, not poured it all over everything, softening that crust and making it all taste exactly the same. This looks like high school cafeteria fare with two green vegetables, not even subbing out a different 2nd veggie. I hope it made you happy though.
>>21399230Not OP but white pepper is sometimes used for visual reasons with things like mashed potato or other traditional foods. But judging by the shitty ass pie in this one I think anon's mum is just a meh cook.
>>21399280Peas should have a chunk of (salted) butter added just before serving.
>>21397678I was gonna say it's this
>>21399274
>>21399297White pepper is much better for mashed potatoes and also for eggs
Steak, cooked just right, not too rare, not too done, with a bit of a crust on the outside, nice and tender in the middle, Yorkshire pudding all puffed up like it’s had a right good rise, golden and crisp round the edges, mashed potatoes so creamy you’d think they’d snuck a bit of butter in there when you weren’t looking, turnip gravy thick and proper, none of that watery stuff, this one’s got some guts to it, and then, of course, all the trimmings, roasted carrots that are sweet like a dream, greens that haven’t been boiled to death, still got a bit of a crunch to ‘em, roasted parsnips that’ve got a bit of a crisp on the outside but soft inside like a proper bit of comfort food, and let’s not forget the extra gravy, proper gravy that you pour all over it because why wouldn’t you, it’s a full-on plate of comfort, innit, everything on there working together like a well-oiled machine, every bite a bit of a treat, and by the end, you’ve no idea where the steak ended and the mash began, it’s all just one big, glorious, full belly, and you’re sitting there thinking, “That’s what I’m talking about,” ‘cause after all, that’s the kind of meal that fills you up right and makes the world seem like a bit of a better place for a minute, yeah?
>>21397593 (OP)That looks awful, eat healthy & loose weight look & feel better.
>>21397593 (OP)thats looks worse then dog food
>>21399569>>21399575Oh no.
>Somebody cooked a meal at home.>It never came from a 'brand name'>B-b-but it wasn't a microwave meal.>I'm having a meltdown. I need to go back to my burger/hotdog/pizza threads.
>>21397593 (OP)Those mashed potatoes looks very strange. Almost like a piece of coral
