>artificial peach flavor is vomit inducing

I agree with this 100%. I have never had anything that was artificial peach flavored that tasted good.

Maple syrup sucks. Mrs. Butterworth is way better than any maple syrup. And I've had real Vermont and Leafland small batch artisan maple syrup.

If you like Mrs Butterworth, try going for just straight corn syrup. My grandma always had it on the table for pancakes, and despite its reputation, it is delicious.

High fructose corn syrup makes for a more refreshing drink than sugar, because it lingers less on the palate.

The more people say they hate a particular food, the more likely I am to want to try it. It's my belief that any interesting and complex flavor will attract vehement haters, while things that attract no hate are probably bland and boring. This opinion is subject to a "within reason" caveat. I'm not interested in sampling deep-fried dog turds no matter how much hate they get.

Both tomatoes and mushrooms have "interesting" flavors. Tomato is a savory fruit. How's that not interesting? Furthermore, both can be complex. Good cherry tomatoes have a variety of fruity flavors, a piquant tartness, sweetness and a savory, vegetable like flavor that lingers on the tongue. Regular button mushrooms have a fairly simple flavor, but most other kinds have more complexity. Morels, chanterelles, matsutakes and truffles are complex.

yes you are correct about specific varieties. people think of mushrooms and tomatoes as button mushrooms or steak tomatoes which are nothing special

I think it's O.K. to like something even if a bunch of other Internet people are being embarrassing about it and you should just eat foods you like and use appliances that are convenient for your own personal situation and don't let other people ruin things for you.
