I've tried a couple pellet grills and you know? I can see the appeal. Set and forget, flavor is fine. Build quality seems poor though. You can even cook burgers and steaks just fine. In a loose sense it's almost like an air fryer/convection oven. Don't expect searing tho. Also all the pellets taste the same.
I guess I've gotten lazy but charcoal is just such a hassle. It's sooty, you smell like a fire after cooking. You gotta pay attention to temp throughout the whole cook and then you gotta play the game of adding coals and getting the temp stable again.
Flavor is obviously better with coals/wood chunks but enough to justify the hassle I dunno. Some might even argue coal or wood tastes dirty, so even that could be a moot point.
