to make you feel good for being able to handle it
nowadays spice tolerance is seen as something to strive for (for some reason)

sounds like they messed up your order anon. Next time you should loudly complain, send it back, and make a huge fuss the whole time just to see if that changes the heat level. Maybe that'll trick them into trying to poison you with spice out of sheer annoyance, only the jokes on them you have no functioning taste buds

It was Vietnam fucking shits?
You have to threaten them that you will follow them home and tie their whole family up and make them watch as you do terrible unspeakable things unless they make it hot enough.
Those fucking Vietnam fucking shits can make it hot but don't because it saves them money on expensive spicy ingredients.
Don't forget to say you prefer children in bed

You're supposed to activate the capsaicin, that's where all the heat is.

people (young guys mostly) want to be able to eat the hottest sauce on the menu as some kind of masculinity flex but if it's actually hot then they can't and they seethe. it's also bad business to make and stock a sauce which almost no one can actually eat and you therefore sell almost none of

Honestly I think it can be. There's a lot of foods that are balanced around certain levels of heat and making them mild removes that balance and makes it no longer the same dish. So it's not a bad thing to consider striving for bit by bit if you really want to eat every food at its best.

But yeah, 99% of the time it's fags just trying to be macho or bananas/coconuts trying to prove their roots.
