Asian Cuisine Tier List
I've visited all of these countries, here are my thoughts on their cuisine.

what's so great about Singapore?
Anonymous No.21401165 [Report]
I feel like these threads always conflate "How good is the food in country X?" with "How good are the cuisine(s) that derive from places in country X?" which are really quite separate questions.

Singaporean cuisine is like a mix of everything. It's not really unique BUT, their chicken rice clears everything.

hmmmm looks like the blandest dish one could possibly come up with, but maybe it tastes different than it looks?

It does look bland but they cook the rice differently (not really sure what they do), so the rice itself is very flavorful. You can seriously just eat the rice by itself.

Swap China and Vietnam as well as Japan and Philippines and I'd agree. Vietnamese restaurant food is good Vietnamese home cooking is challenging for foreigners.

You don't really "experience" Filipino food in a restaurant setting. You have to know someone from there to personally cook for you. Restaurant culture is dead in the Philippines.

Here’s the secret
>rice cooked in broth
So easy a baby could do it, and yet people insist on cooking rice in water

Their sushi and ramen were great, but I also enjoyed lots of other stuff like a simple bowl of soba noodles made by some old guy in the middle of nowhere in the mountains. We hiked up there and ate at his small restaurant that doesn't even look like a restaurant to my gaijin eyes. Anyways, it was amazing

depending on the quality of the fish, it may well be. there's little in nature more tasty than fatty raw tuna

dont try to flex on me with obscure weeb knowledge. the most commonly eaten takeaway food in Japan *are* ramen, gyudon and Kare raisu. maybe also yakitori and tempura. thats really most of what there's to it.

It is unironcally the case with Flip food. The closest thing you can get to taste authentic flip food as a tourist are low-class eateries/diners and they are absolutely garbage compared to the averahe Flip homemade cooking. Restaurants are treated as pure novelties or only made for the tourist's pallete there. They never really took off because virtually everyone knows how to cook.

There's a mom and pop filipino market in my neighborhood that sells cooked food sometimes, the stuff I've tried from there is top-tier comfort food. Some of it looks pretty bad though 2bh.

Why didn't you come to Japan and try any of the chains?
Have you ever really been to Japan? Or were you scared in the hotel because you don't speak Japanese?
And we don't often take ramen or tempura home with us, because it's food we enjoy freshly cooked.
If it's tendon, we would take it home.

Besides, ramen and tempura are foods to be enjoyed freshly cooked, so I don't often take them home with me.
If it were tendon, I would bring it home.
