holy shit bros. just wanted to share this with anyone reading

if you're starving for an easy win in this shit life follow these easy steps. make beef stew, freeze what you don't eat, then reheat within the next few months, thawing in the fridge overnight, serving on fresh rice or mash. It was so fuckin good. Arguably better than when I made it fresh. What gives? Who knows, just keep in mind it pays to think about feeding future-you as much as hungry right now-you, you have a not-so-distant you to feel proud of for being so farsighted

not OP but it's super easy to make. follow a recipe if you have no idea what you're doing, but it's simple. brown your beef, brown the vegetables you want, add some stock (not enough to make it a soup, just enough to braise everything). punch it up with any kind of flavour bombs you got - fresh herbs, wine, worcestershire, tomato paste, whatever. thicken it with a cornstarch or flour slurry. and of course, salt it along the way.

Sear the beef. Drop onions in and saute, throw in some gaaaalic, make sure it's all salted. Add the longest cooking veg, pepper, more salt for those veggies, in goes a few bay leaves, maybe thyme, whatever else your little heart desires. Top with beef stock and simmer. Add next slow cooking veggies, and just let it slow cook. Beef used should be tougher and have connective tissue to thicken and enrich the sauce. Salt bit by bit as you add ingredients, adjusting to taste.

Yeah, this is why God invented Ziploc(TM) brand baggies.
>make massive pot of split pea soup
>have a bowl or two while it's hot
>let the rest cool down
>portion it into baggies
>freeze
Now you can just pull out a frozen bag of soup and tear the bag off and put the block into a bowl, throw it into the microwave for a few minutes, stir, microwave it for a few more minutes, and wa-la

I just keep a bot of beef stew eternally going on my stovetop. Every day I feed the Beef Stew god an additional portion of beef and a potato, as well as holy spices and water. I giveth as I taketh. I have been doing this 3 years now. I dare not upset the gods by foregoing of my daily communion and offering lest the sun fail to rise tomorrow.

you said one doesn't make small stews because it is so time consuming to do. this makes no sense at all because it's very little effort and takes very little time that you actually have to spend on it. a small stew is not wasted effort and time, because stews are inherently efficient in both time and effort

Protip: Portion out single servings into smaller bags when freezing. When you want some you just grab a bag instead of needing to re-heat the whole batch.

oh, right. I literally stopped reading after the first "few minutes." I should be more careful.
I was thinking about how a can of soup takes like 3 minutes to heat up in the microwave, and even then it's still not that hot. so for frozen soup there wouldn't be a chance.
