British cuisine is just perfectly mediocre and average. It’s not inedible. It just became the punching bag because it’s worse than the greatest European cuisines.

The meat pies are great. Probably the best I've ever eaten.

They have some of, if not, the best bacon and sausages. I've never had a roast dinner as good as from there. Their produce is way up there as are their variety and standard of cheese. Scottish beef is good. Welsh lamb is good. Their pastries are unimaginative, but decent if from a non chain store. Desserts / sweet pastries are better than most.

They're really good at dishes with a bold, salty, briny flavor and minimal other tastes, but struggle with anything else. Most other foods end up tasting like something you'd rather avoid. Swedish food is even worse.
