Never more, never less, except for the recent limited time Grand Mac and Mac Jr. which had larger and smaller diameter patties respectively but were different products. As far as size goes, probably the best way would be to compare old photos of the Big Mac and Quarter Pounder together with current Big Macs and Quarter Pounders. The QP has always been 1/4lbs of ground beef before cooking. That's what it still is today. While they might play with the patty dimensions a bit, the total mass has to be the same, severely restricting how much they can change anything else. If the Big Mac and QP used to be about the same size and are still about the same size, OP's image is shit. If there used to be a significant difference, then that should be obvious in the old photos.
