Salsitas
Salsitas

Look how they massacred my boy.
It's finally happened. My favorite chip went to shit. Just picked up a bag of these at the dollar tree. And there's NO flavor. These chips used to be loaded up with spices, staining the chip red, and stinging your tongue with a nice mild spice. Now it's only a dusting. Not only that. But they lost their texture too. See how the chip has airy pockets? Not anymore. It's a completely flat corn chip now.

It's been a few months since my last purchase. So this change is fairly recent. I used to think that no matter what happens to other chips, Salsitas will always hold up. But not anymore. Massacred!

Wait, for real? Did they neuter these? It's not like I ever find these anywhere now, but damn, they were good.

for more than the price of a bag of salsitas, you can buy tortilla chips and real salsa and avocado which you will enjoy much less

I'm hoping it was just a fluke. A mistake in production. Just a bad batch. I'll have to try them again another time to verify.
But I've been hearing about foods going to shit after getting bought up by private equity firms. They buy up companies, do some retarded back door funny money shit, and ultimately cut costs on the products by replacing quality ingredients with shitty ones. So I'm afraid that's what happened here. I googled, and it seems like a private equity firm invested in Salsitas's company "Snak King", august of last year. It took almost a whole year, but they eventually ruined my favorite chip.

Oh nice. Yeah, private equity eviscerates everything, from snack foods to healthcare. It's weird these days to find a truly independent manufacturer. I guess most can't resist the lure of money when it's offered (not that I even blame them for selling out, since only the rich are taken care of here).

I say this earnestly, you should contact the complaint number on the bag and ask what happened. I woke in manufacturing and the complaint is generally handled by someone very close to the manufacturing floor themselves and not some pajeet on the moon, so they will be able to give you a specific answer on why they changed, and if it was a fluke or a manufacturing process change.

At the place I work, the guy that handles consumer complaints is literally the same guy changing out motors sensors on the machine itself.

forgot to say: be specific with your question. ask them the questions based on the things you've pointed out here. ask them why they've changed and ask them if it was a manufacturing error or if this is a new product.

Dude I bought these yesterday in San Diego area and they were still great. Not as a great as a few years ago but they were still delicately flavorful. They were never really spicy.

The real crime is how these assholes got rid of their Jalapeñitos line. I haven't been able to find these anywhere in Southern California and the company is in Los Angeles

No. Salsitas are sold all over, as far as I'm aware. I used to get them at another store, before the store shut down. I didn't see them at Dollar Tree, until Dollar Tree lifted it's dollar limit. I suppose Satlsitas figured a $1.25 was worth it.

Still? I've never seen these in my life and I'm 44. I've seen the Guacachips and Salsitas, though.

I remember seeing the "Snak King" name on the bag and finding out that they were genuinely a private company and wondering how long that would last
