I live in a northern kind of rural city, typical right-wing god-fearing country. That type of demographic, the aging boomers 50-60 crowd, are still the majority population, and they were raised up on Timmies. With that then comes an absolute glut of Tim Hortons, basically any major street intersection.
>>21403381>>21404841Sums it up well. Early 00s it was pretty tasty and relatively cheap. They focused on the donuts, but they also had a small but serviceable selection of soup/sandwiches. The coffee was pretty good, but after they changed hands they cut their old producer (I believe McDs using them now), and now the quality is only about as good as what you’d get at a gas station.
The corpo they sold out to is some one based in Brazil, I think they also own Wendy’s. Now everything is mass produced by TFWs in Ontario, and they keep jumping onto food fads that no one likes. But by using almost exclusively TFWs and using low quality ingredients to cut costs, when gauged against their brand reach, it’s just a case of “too big to fail”.
I go there, not for coffee but because the tea is still fine, and it’s honestly mostly so I can get a couple plain Timbits for my dog when we go on walks.
We do have a reputable local donut shop in town, and the quality is way higher than Tim’s but you’ll also be spending 3 Canuck Bucks on a donut
