Hello,

I've got an Insta-Pot that I've made a lot of great recipes in. However, after several years of use, I started having issues with it not sealing correctly. The end result being that it would start to burn food without ever sealing and starting the cook timer. Trying to reseat / seal the lid after the pot heated up meant having to let it cool down and then trying to restart the process. I figured that it was just in need of a replacement seal, and that I'd buy a 2nd pot while awaiting replacement seals to arrive. However, I immediately started having the same 'not forming a seal' issue when using the new pot. If someone has any suggestions / advice on how to resolve the issue and wants to smack me with a clue x 4, I'd be appreciative. Thanks in advance for any help.

this probably wont be any help but when mine started doing that, I replaced the seal, it immediately started doing it again, I put back the old seal and it now works

Thanks for the reply. I even tried swapping the lids between the two pots and the 'success rate' of getting the pot to seal the first time is far below what it was when the first pot I got years ago was new. I could understand the seal on the first one getting old, but the fact I'm having same issue with new pot right out of the box makes me suspect that I'm doing something wrong or missing something obvious.

I use an instant pot pretty much every day, you need to buy the instant pot brand replacement seals if you need new ones, the 3rd party ones are shit

also if you can catch it when its just about to start building enough steam to lift the seal plug and push down on the lid it will seal well and not leak steam even with a worn out seal

and make sure the rim of the stainless pot and the lip of the seal are dry before you put the lid on

are you sure you are putting enough water in it?

Just order a new ring for the lid. They're meant to be changed every couple of years anyway. It only costs like $10-20 for a three pack.

This.

It sounds like you're not seating the seal correctly when you install it. There's a groove that has to be lined up correctly or else it won't work.

Either that or your pressure valve is gummed up.

Thanks - I'll order brand replacement seals. And I'll double check that everything is dry. I do try to watch the pot and check the seal, but I don't always time it right if trying to fix other food items at the same time.

I haven't had an issue with lack of steam, but rather that contents are boiling but the lid didn't seal.

I'll double check the valve on the older lid, but the issue happens with the new lid as well, which makes me thing it's a 'me' thing. I'll double check the seal ring and see if I can find something I missed.

Thanks again Anons! The assistance is appreciated.
