Not just to flavor, but for health.

Little salt gives you fatigue and low stomach acid. If you have low stomach acid, your body can't break down the food quick enough, and you have diffuse problems like GERD, acid reflux and other stuff. You might also feel sluggish and fatigued after eating a meal. It's your body struggling to break down the food you ate.

The solution? Add acid and salt to taste in your food, ALWAYS.
I've started adding salt to the point where it tickles under my tongue but doesn't taste salty. It starts tasting like literal candy, and that's when I know it's right. Also white wine vinegar. I have a bottle and I add until the food just tickles under my tongue. Now, when I eat the meal, I feel incredible. I have energy, it's broken down quick, I become hungry in just a few hours again and I can eat much more, which makes me healthier.

It's been 5 days now and I normally have acid cravings now. You can check if there is an issue with you if you feel sluggish after eating, and if eating tomatoes or drinking orange juice makes you feel a LOT better. You're likely dealing with a salt and acid deficiency as well.

You need acid.
You need salt.
This thread: I learned the importance of salting and adding acid to taste

If you're not suffering from what I wrote at the end, move on. If you think you're salting sufficiently, try the test I wrote and see if you are. If you aren't, add salt and vinegar, you will feel healthier.

I have to consume a fluid ounce of hydrochloric acid mixed in with a pinch of iodized salt with every meal, otherwise I feel sluggish and fatigued after eating a meal. I believe I suffer from a malady known as Bullshititis...

unless you have kidney disease, you only need 500 mg of salt a day to be healthy. it sounds like you have mental illness and are trying to use fairytales as a scapegoat
