Would have seared it longer on the sides if it were for me, but I was terrified of overcooking it. The man eats chunks of raw beef straight from the package.

Due to the fast content of wagyu, you actually generally want to cook it to about medium (instead of rare/medium rare).

I did this for my mother, she really enjoyed it.

Thought this was really good, and I don't love a blue steak. He said it was perfect. Great success.

Yeah, that's what everything I looked into said. I definitely would have if I were cooking it for myself and/or my mom, maybe served it with some garlic butter on the side, but my dad likes to be able to taste the cow's soul.

It sounds like you successfully didnโ€™t be a disappoint for this one day in Fatherโ€™s Day. Congrats, probably the best present he could have hoped for.

I enjoy rare steak, but still preferred my wagyu medium.

Rare wagyu is still good though, just different.

Flat iron. He ate both and then went to take a nap. Happy father's day, /CK/.

I tripped over beef fat from the pan and landed ass first on a broom handle and now I'm trans and Jewish.

Don't wanna throw shade, this board is literally filled with haters, but isn't this kind of raw? I've heard that waygu is kind of better when cooked to medium.

It is, but it was a father's day gift for my dad, who'll literally buy good beef and eat chunks of it raw from the package. Hell, I've seen him do the same with ground beef. I asked if he wanted me to throw it on for another minute but he said it was perfect.
