Unironically great. Why the hell is everyone clowning Gordon Ramsay for his grilled cheese? Because the cheese wasn’t liquefied goo oozing out? The man used real cheese, not some orange petroleum slice engineered to melt at room temp.

Both plastic and good cheese melts easily.
The only cheese that doesn't melt easily is that which has only been ripening for a few weeks.
You'll usually find this kind of cheese in supermarkets.

Because legitimately talentless Jamie Oliveoil can make a grilled cheese with real cheese that's melty and good yet Wrinkles McGee, in his infinite wisdom, can't. Looks like I'll have to pay the video again. And this aired on BBC before Wrinkles' fiasco of a sandwich, so Jamie want trying to capitalise on Gordo's failure:

>The only cheese that doesn't melt easily is that which has only been ripening for a few weeks.
That's a load of rubbish, you clearly know nothing.

Americans are used to plastic 'cheese' that melts at room temperature, that's why they throw hissy-fits if it isn't a gooey mess.

Gordon went to a local cheesemaker prior the the video, so he was showcasing their cheese, it is quite clearly a mature cheese and hard cheeses like that don't melt very well and he knows this too.
Don't ask me why he posted it and claimed it did melt, I have no idea?

he did use hard cheeses that don't melt well, i'm not sure why, since they don't seem like great choices for grilled cheese anyway. but even if he did use american cheese, it probably wouldn't have been melted much either because he burned the fucking sandwich in his fireplace in the first ten seconds.

it doesn't even look like the cheese is really warm though. even if real hard cheese doesn't melt it still gets soft and will release some of it's fat when heated and it doesn't look like it did that either.

>While in Australia, Gordon visited the most amazing cheesemaker in Tasmania who's making cheese illegally in his home! After tasting the local cheeses, Gordon decided to whip up his take on the classic grilled cheese sandwich complete with homemade kimchi. No one will call you an idiot sandwich after making this!
it seems like he probably filmed his show and then just did the quickest and easiest thing with the cheeses which would be to throw it in some bread and cook it in the pan rather than making something else where using those cheeses would be more proper like a pasta dish or literally anything else where they'd be grated and used on top or just sparingly in a sandwich instead of the centerpiece.

it goes along with a lot of his videos being full of flair but lacking substance. honestly, we should find gordon and turn him into a proper stew to punish him.

It's surprising that despite the criticisms, not many people have picked up on this. Like I said, he is not stupid and would be fully aware of this, my only question is . . .why did he post it?
The only thing I can think of is that instead of people just posting "That's nice" . . . he must have expected loads of negative comments, this leads to controversy, reposts (including one in this thread) and seeing as the more views = more money . . .every penny counts?

I don't think he really cares what numpties on YT or /ck/ think, he makes money either way.

Where would you have liked the conversation to go? We can't taste or even smell the sandwich in OP. All we can do is look at it, see the unmelted cheese and compare it to the most famous grilled cheese failure ever done. There's not really any other direction the thread could have gone. Blame yourself/OP for making a bad thread with a bad premise to begin with.

Ramsey has always been about time is money, in his first documentary about him hustling to open his first 3 star restaurant he does like four side hustles a day and rushes through all of them, all his kitchen nightmares are quick turnarounds, he just doesn't slow the fuck down, a medium heat slow cook will melt any cheese.

This thread is hilarious, Americans think a grilled cheese is not only a delicacy but an actual proper recipe. I expect they were rejoicing when one Brit chef messed it up, because it affirmed their incorrect opinion of this basic bitch 'recipe'. They do the same with hotdish and mac and cheese. It would be risible if it wasn't so utterly fucking tragic. It's like reading a bunch of spackers or something similar, it really is pathetic and they're totally unaware.
