So I'd like to buy and eat a fresh filet of salmon from Costco with a little soy sauce and Wasabi like I do in Japan but is it safe to eat it raw straight from Costco refrigerated section? They have salmon from chile and Norway both farmed. I heard Norway was the best because of the practices and to avoid wild salmon because of parasites. Everyone freezes the filets before they are put out right?

Sushi grade salmon will be labelled accordingly. It is frozen to a deeper/colder temp, to kill parasite eggs.

>$12.99/lb + membership dues
lol
I thought Costco was meant to be a good deal lmao
I can get salmon at hmart for $6.99/lb
Even shitty-ass Safeway sells it for $10.99/lb rifle
Are all Costco customers blithering idiots or just the ones who buy the salmon?

Last time I went it was only $8/lb. That stuff is dated 2/23 so there may have been supply issues at the time.

It's probably fine. Pretty much all fish sold is frozen at some point. Might not taste as good as sushi grade depending on how long it's been thawed so only do it with stuff packed that day and with at least 5 days on the sell-by date.

Sam's use to have "sushi grade" but from what I have seen that is not an actual grade here in the US.

It's around 10 dollars a pound for the Norway filets. 8-9 for the Chilean. I just took the pic from a search injun.
