I bought a jar of the stuff to taste it for the first time on sandwiches, and it makes a dry paste in my mouth that is hard to swallow.
It tastes fine on small quantities.
Should I give it a try with jam(strawberry? peach?)?
How would it taste with some proper loaves of breads instead of sandwich bread?
What other dishes do people make with peanut butter?

You can use peanut butter in cookies, ice cream, shakes, granola bars, oatmeal, waffles, some noodle recipes, brownies, curry, as a dip for apples... and that's about it.

you're probably using cheap stuff. the really good stuff has some oil in it and you're supposed to mix it up. It'll be slightly runny, like a sauce. No added sugars, literally just ground up peanuts into a paste and salt.

I specifically bought a jar that is just peanut butter, with no emulsifying or anything else added. It even had instructions that because it was just peanut butter, it would separate and you would need to mix it before using it.

Gonna google a recipe with oatmeal and brownies, and try it with apples. Thanks Anon.

add jam, either strawberry or other berries
a plain peanut butter sandwich needs a big glass of milk
proper bread is good too, not essential

that's a good sign

alright then you did get the good stuff. you sure you mixed it properly? if you don't, sometimes you'll get bits and chunks of a really dry bite. I personally don't mind it but I can see why some would.

Will get a jar of strawberry tomorrow. Only have peach currently.

Now you are making me doubt myself. Will make extra sure I mix it next time I try it.
Now I'm off to bed for today.

Yea if you don't mix it properly, then you'll get a portion of really liquidy peanut butter and another portion of really dry and rough peanut butter. I usually shake the crap out of it with my hand, then slam it on the table really good, then I'll mix it up with a spoon/butter knife.

Legitimately how do you become an adult without ever having tasted peanut butter? Did you think you were allergic or something?

Forgot to mention you don't need any dishes (or utensils), you can finger it straight out of the jar into your mouth.

Definitely have it with jam or honey when eating it as a sandwich, a bite of just peanut butter and sliced bread will be dry regardless of the peanut butter quality

the pb we eat on sandwiches here in the states is candy tier, its very sugary and uses hydrogeated oils to emulsify it into a nice spreadable paste. it does have a lot of fat and protein too so its more nutritious than for instance nutella but peanut butter and peanut paste should be marketed as different things tb hayche.

Satay sauce and African peanut stew are my favorite uses for it. Peanut butter is like 2% water so it can dry your mouth out easily. Eating it with jam would help or only taking smaller bites. Strawberry jam is good. Never had peach. Apple or berry jelly/jam are good too.
