this is one of those things that people say about almost any ethnicity or group they dislike or want to talk shit about. cultural transfer and borrowing is absolutely pervasive. it reminds me of the whole 'irish exit' thing where you slip out without telling anyone. i remember reading a while back that. turns out there's a 'french exit' and like half a dozen others and all these people have their own version of that phrase named after another nationality that they historically dislike or war with.
