why is it so hard to fight good dry tough beef jerky in a bag? stuff like jack links is disgusting, too tender, too moist, it hoenstly creeps me out
I want something you can really rip off and make you worry about your teeth
am I really going to have to buy a dehdyrator for that or are there any store brands that are like this?

It's reformed. Not even actual meat
>I want something you can really rip off and make you worry about your teeth
You can buy a lot of different "real" jerkys, but they're gonna be as or even more expensive than jack dick's.
>am I really going to have to buy a dehdyrator for that
You can use your oven. Convection mode on, lowest temperature, door ajar

It's a good way to use the nicest meats. They are quite nice for fruit too.

>or are there any store brands that are like this?
I bought some bags of jerky from Buc-ees, and realized the following day that my jaw hurt from chewing the various flavors. It was indeed quite dry.

Jack Links is also chock full of sugar. It's closer to gummy candy than jerky.

You need to look for "cowboy" jerky. But if you are buying Jack Links garbage you can't afford real jerky, either premade or buying meat to dehydrate yourself.

This is one of two bagged jerky I like. I think you would like it judging by your hate for Jack Links. Wild Bills is more often than not quite dry and not sweet.

to be fair new ovens are mostly convection which I'm sure would make jerky much faster even with the door closed but yeah I agree

My oven has some "open door" security where it just turns off if the door isn't closed.
I tried cheating it with putting a spoon between the door but it didn't fall for my trickery.
Sucks balls, I can't even make some nice dried tomatoes

The oven technique makes the jerky too crispy and cooked, I've tried it. If you don't have a dehydrator the best thing to do is lay a fan on its back pointing to the ceiling and lay all the strips of meat on the fan grille so it just blows until dry. This of course only works if you have an arid climate. You could also hang the meat on a rack and just blow a fan on it.

Bypass the sensor; on my washing machine it's a magnetic sensor, so I can put a fridge magnet in the corner so it will continue filling as I load it.

It should be fairly easy to bypass. Just do a Google search.
I don't see why ovens would need that kind of security feature. It's not like you can die if your apartment or house is flooded with gas or anything.
Then again, if you have one of those induction ovens that are 100% electric, I suppose that's a non-issue.

Find where the sensor is and a way to bypass it. When I was a little kid I liked watching the washing machine running but there was a sensor to stop it if the top wasn't closed, but it was literally just this little recessed button so my mom would stick a toothbrush in there to keep it triggered and then put me up on the dryer so I could lean over and watch the washing machine go.
