What's an appropriate meal to feed a soldier before sending him to die for his country?

Factoring cost and morale.

Lobster AND steak seems like overkill. Pork ribs + shrimp should be good enough to let him know his service is valued.

What do you serve if he comes back alive? Now you gotta give him a fancy meal every time in case it's his last day on earth.

Rude. Support the troops, they're the only reason you get to enjoy living in a free democracy and not an authoritarian dystopia.

Billions were already invested in training and arming them. They're just going to shit the meal out a few hours later.

Are you so stuck up that you'd be miserable eating shrimps and ribs?

Coming back alive is reward in itself. Special meal is for the start of the deployment only.

Dry navy. Maybe they'll let you have a couple beers on that special occasion, but it's nothing like the good old days of the royal navy where you had a daily spirit ration to keep you sane. Gotta make do with ice cream and sodomy now.
