i have no idea how, given the breadth of japanese cuisine, they managed to create a repertoire of desserts that are all so unapologetically bland
even when they got access to modern western foods, the best they could come up with was this abomination

Sometimes you want a bland dessert. Not every desert needs to suck your dick and tickle your balls and put a finger up your ass and squeal like a Laotian prostitute. Sometimes a simple red bean paste and rice cake or goop on a stick with sugar is just what the doctor ordered. Don't be racist man.

alright, i'm just starting to get into weeb food. what are some good/required things to try? dango obviously, that's next on the list, and probably mochi.

i just like the idea of japanese cooking. from what i can tell, it's veg/rice/meat in roughly that order and served 100 different ways, which appeals to both palate and wallet
