Why are Italians so bad at making pizza?

The humble Meat Lovers Pizza.
Italy is a small country of steep hills and is sub-optimal for cattle, so they could never have produced this. Maybe a few regionally, but never as a staple.

Made my first cast iron sourdough Focaccia pizza.
Pretty amazing.
Focaccia style bread is even easier than basic high hydration no knead sourdough; just plop it in the cast iron for last hour or so, no shaping or scoring needed.
So just made a small Foccacia bread:
>1 cup flour
>1/2 tbs salt
>1/2-2/3 cup starter
>~1/2 cup water
I put the sauce on top, Sicilian style.
Its a good method and doesnt burn the cheese.
I'll use less sauce next time.

I know as a Margherita it's supposed to be flat like that, but it looks like Kid Cuisine. It even has the super basic tomato sauce and it looks like it should come in a tray with a Butterfinger

I've been making crustless pizzas the last 6 or 7 years and I'm never going back. In fact, because it's so hard for thick crustless pizza to keep its shape I've evolved beyond this trash and started making pizza casseroles. Much healthier with real food.

It's quite literally not. No cornicione, clearly not baked at high temperature, served sliced, unrisen dough and unsieved tomato. It's what someone who has never had a Neapolitan pizza might make it they read a description of a Neapolitan pizza but never actually had one or bothered to look into the process.
