Usually when I eat fries or something greasy like fries I get left side upper chest/near ribcage pain and today I took Gas X before the meal and it seems like it eliminated it completely. Could it just be gas pains? Why do fries cause this?

As someone who knows them too well, you KNOW when it's gas. It's not just pain, it's some kind of PRESSING pain. You feel bloated in your intestines as well and especially when you sit and apply pressure on the lower body by the angle it gets worse. But it should be in your INTESTINES, that's where the gas production occurs. But the pain can of couse sometimes spread from down there to the upper region. Still, at ribcage level I'd presume sth else. Did you also feel heartburn? That's typical for gas because the pressure pushes the acid upwards.
Did the pain move around?
What definitely IS the case (speaking from experience) is that the harmless gas can cause pains like you are about to get torn in half, it can be VERY painful, especially at night with intestinal movement becoming less and gravity and buoyancy being at an unfortunate angle.
Did it become worse then lying?
