You feel bloated in your intestines as well and especially when you sit and apply pressure on the lower body by the angle it gets worse. But it should be in your INTESTINES, that's where the gas production occurs. But the pain can of couse sometimes spread from down there to the upper region. Still, at ribcage level I'd presume sth else. Did you also feel heartburn? That's typical for gas because the pressure pushes the acid upwards.
Did the pain move around?
What definitely IS the case (speaking from experience) is that the harmless gas can cause pains like you are about to get torn in half, it can be VERY painful, especially at night with intestinal movement becoming less and gravity and buoyancy being at an unfortunate angle.
Did it become worse then lying?
