The weather's getting hot as fuck and I live in a tiny apartment without a hood over my stove and no real ventilation in my kitchen/living room. I have AC but electricity is expensive where I live. What are some dishes I can make that won't heat up my place too much? Picrel, it's cold silken tofu with scallions and chili crisp.

95% of people don't have a real hood over their stove
it sucks, but what can you do
Do you have real AC (4 pipe) if so, I am jealous!

Pre-cooking a bunch of noodles in the morning or at night when it's sill cool out, then re-hydrating with cold water and a ramen seasoning packet later.
I've done something like thinly sliced pork + cold noodles + a soy sauce ramen packet to get a full meal when it's hot as fuck.

I assume you have a gas range which wastes like 70% of the heat. Basically any countertop appliance produces little heat like air fryer, pressure cooker, rice maker.

>cheese and pickled vegetables
>canned fish
>avjar
>roasted tomatoes or eggplants

Chicken/Tuna salad depending on what you have, just don't eat the tuna every day unless you're speedrunning mercury poisoning

Cereal and PB&J can be good if unhealthy

Another Anon mentioned salads, though making a salad filling might involve cooking meat, maybe you could use tofu? Not sure how you even prep tofu though

Plain bread for breakfast with juice, been my breakfast for over a decade now, holds one over until lunch

Honestly it's hard to come up with meals that aren't terrible for you and filling that are cold, 90% of food is hot cooked

look up cowboy caviar. besides avocado and onions and cilantro you can make it with all canned items. you just dip chips into it and eat it. she makes for partys because shes lazy and everyone really loves it. i see corn in a lot of recipe but i dont think she puts that in hers.

Sandwiches! My god I struggled to come up with a cold meal but it was painfully obvious

Just make sure you get good meat right from the butcher and good bread, none of the pre packed sliced stuff, that's for holding you over til lunch

Pro tip: add carmel flavoring. Same syrup they (I) use to make yeast donuts and fritters smell and taste sublime. This makes bananas smell and taste even bananaier.
