Anon, deep fryers (and deep frying) existed 10 years ago. You could always cook slop at home.
Pic is how you will likely die

Deep frying anything has always been a skill and super messy. People set their houses on fire trying to deep fry stuff whereas an air fryer any retard can slide the tray in and press start.
>>21418003
Why? Its oil splatter on a steel surface.

I completely agree. French fries and tater tots are so convenient now. Better than ordering takeout and letting them get soggy in a bag. They're also great for burgers, frozen fish fillets, and chicken.

>>21418003
They're fine after cooking frozen convenience foods that are covered in crumbs or batter. But they're annoying to clean if you've just made cheeseburgers in them. Beef grease isn't liquidy like chicken fat.

>cleaning your airfryer
Why? Just buy a new one every year
>that's too expensive!
It's equivalent pricewise to buying $20 jugs of oil every 4 months, just get a $60-$80 airfryer

They only changed things for braindead consoomers. Ovens have always had this capability.

The 40-Year-Old convection turbo oven I found at Goodwill is also way better at air frying than my modern toaster oven that actually has an air frying mode

How fucking pathetic do you have to be to buy fast food and pretend you "cooked" it?

Oh wow another midwit redditor posting this for the millionth time. Yes they are "just" tiny convection ovens, but they have a much more powerful fan. That combined with the smaller cooking chamber makes for crispier food than your big convection oven will ever achieve.

It only took like 25 years but the nu-wave oven and all the other as seen on TV dogshit kitchen gadgets are now ubiquitous in American kitchens, and they have people jumping at the opportunity to defend their purchases.

It's crazy how branding it "air frying" changed the perception entirely

I'm not saying that they're bad products so much as they used to belong to a category of appliances that only grandma would buy from the home shopping network. Did the Nu wave oven cook quickly and efficiently on your counter? Probably. Did anyone buy it besides retirees with too much disposable income? Not really. They just changed the marketing/branding on the same concept and here we are

My parents have one, my gf has one, and I use it sometimes to heat up leftovers. It's fine and fast. My breville convection toaster oven does the same thing and can also be used to bake, but it takes a little longer to get something as crispy. There are tradeoffs.

No it doesn't and that's why ovens have racks.
Quite literally zero difference to using a meme fryer.
