home-canning is done in mason jars, retard. don't comment on things that you don't understand next time.

1. Buy a bunch of regular cans. Alternatively just save a bunch of pickle jars (with safety button caps so you know they can maintain a proper seal)
2. Get a bunch of vinegar and/or sugar
3. Whenever you wanna can something, just put it in the jar with a bunch of vinegar or syrup depending on the ingredient, dip the jar into boiling water, then screw the lid on after a few minutes. If you're reusing pickle jars, you'll know you did good when the safety button goes back in overnight. If you're not putting a bunch of vinegar or sugar in the jar, then you need a special tool called a pressure canner. If the recipe for whatever you're canning requires simmering anyway and requires vinegar/sugar (e.g. salsa or preserves) anyway then you can just pour it into the jar while it's still hot and be fine.

>Equipment
Literally any jar will do, just go to your grocery store and buy a set (or save jars like I said before, just make sure to only reuse ones with safety buttons). Wide-mouthed jars are just objectively better so get those if possible. You don't need anything else besides basic cooking equipment unless you wanna can neutral pH foods in water, in which case you'd need a pressure canner.
>Recipes
Again, just go to your grocery store, see what kinda shit they have in cans/jars, and make it yourself. You can also pickle or make jam out of basically anything as long as your stomach can handle the resulting flavor

It's mostly Reddit hogwash, if the main ingredient is sugar or vinegar and the jar maintains a vacuum seal then you'll be fine. That being said, if you wanna take the extra step then you can get a meat thermometer. The internal temperature of the stuff in the jar should always be at least 180 degrees before putting the lid on, but if it gets hotter than that then you'll risk softening the ingredients.

Hopefully you have a gas stove for the water bath (depending on quantity), and don't try and can meat

american choice, actually. mason jars are great and nostalgic and for a while (and maybe today idk) were the only jar approved by the usda. weck is fine, but i prefer tradition.

Necks help keeping the vegetables submerged in the brine to stop molds from growing on surfaced parts and keep lacto-fermentation in an anaerobic (read: correct) state

Yeah, there is a government resource on canning, and how to do it safely. Use that, not 4chan. There are books on how to do this shit too at the walmart, plus recipes. And no, women don't appreciate this.
