what are some go to recipes with tons of flavour without much costs?
Any ideas for self-made staples?

I recommend Four Hour Chef by Tim Ferriss. It goes through the fundamental skills, techniques, etc and kind of steps you up from zero to basically functional. I'd supplement it with videos of chefs doing the things you want to learn.
It's also a good example of how to approach learning new things in general (pairs well with The Art of Learning by Josh Waitzkin).
There's a really good white chocolate and rosemary cookie recipe in there, too.

Others may disagree. But try deep Ai to help get some kick ass recipes. I was apprehensive at first, but I will never go back.

What’s your starting point? It sounds like you want to get to “from scratch” but it can be pretty time consuming
