We love us some good meat.
A nice schweinsbraten, cooked until it basically falls from the fork, yum.
Germany by location was a country which for a large part only has grounds where cattle can be fed, with only grass growing there. Therfore we always were a meat and milk and animal product country. The animal product is the main part of the meal, plant ones are then the side ones, like potatos or knödel or sauerkraut.

If you got to the right place it's fantastic.
There was a German former White House chef who opened a restaurant in my neighborhood once and his was fantastic. He was old, eventually retired and it just didn't have the food for its value and while it was fun it was too fun for a casual date night.
Krauts can't into the concept of not a family or large group for a restaurant in a well-to-do neighborhood.
Same thing on the other side of the country, not a former Executive Executive Branch Chef, but similar restaurant in a demographically similar neighborhood has the same problem. It's great for festivals, but it's a bit loud and communal. It's plain not good for a date. Even if the food is good food for a date. It's great for a family of 4 or going out with some girl and guy friends after work.
