This question probably doesn't deserve it's own thread, and here seems as good a palce as any to ask it:
Why do so many people make shrimp scampi, paella, shrimp and grits, etc and LEAVE THE TAILS ON THE FUCKING SHRIMP
The tails are inedible, why are you putting them in a fork food? Now I have to reach my hand into it and tug the tail off, while other people are watching me in the restaurant, and then have to performatively wipe my fingers off afterward.
It's not difficult to de-tail a shrimp!
If I am at a restaurant they should not have tails if they are inside of a fork-food.

You could easily do a copycat McDonald's filet o fish from the whitefish.

It's to show the diner the shrimps were skinned in-house, giving the diner a measure of the ingredient's freshness. Totally skinned shrimps are done in factories prior to freezing for sale to grocers, not restaurateurs.
