I'm literally cummin thinking about cumin.
It's a delicious, warm, savory spice.
I'd like to cum in you, boy.
I’ve got some nice turmeric rice with cumin seed I need to eat for lunch. I hadn’t made it in a long time, amazing comfort food.
The Cumans were a cool people. Too bad they turned into food.
>>21423642 (OP)preground cumin that has sat around for a while starts to taste like ass. that makes me think it's why a lot of people say they hate it. whole cumin seed or freshly ground is so different. and i know that can be true for a lot of spices but cumin is one where i feel like it actually starts to taste bad instead of just bland if it's ground and going stale.
>>21423764No, even fresh cumin seed, when heated, smells identical to human body odor. Like sweaty armpits. It's a disgusting spice only used by subhumans.
I fuckin love cumin.
I like to add cumin seed and tumeric to ride whenever I have a curry.
>>21423765>when heatedThat's why you toast (or fry) cumin seed — exactly to blow off that aroma. Lots of foods (including most meats) produce a somewhat unpleasant smell when you first start to cook them. That means it's all for subhumans? Also you're exaggerating when you say it smells "identical to" body odor, though it is reminiscent enough to know what you're talking about.
>>21423765>smells identical to human body odor. Like sweaty armpits.i never really got that. i feel like you'd have to not bathe or change clothes for an excessively long amount of time for it to become somewhat reminiscent of cumin. normal body odor doesn't really smell like cumin to me.
>unnatural, almost chemical taste that doesn't blend with anything
Chef JP always said spices should be in the background, it's impossible with cumin, there are only two options there, a dish with cumin and a dish without, and you can instantly tell. The cumin taste just sits there to the side of other flavors without mixing with them and overpowering everything else.
>>21423851a lot of spices are like that. it's easier to overpower a dish with them because such a small amount is needed compared to some others but it doesn't mean they can never be used. i like clove but it's extremely easy to add too much, but just a small amount makes things taste nice.
>>21423642 (OP)One of those things that you really have to grind, yourself. The pre-ground shit sucks.
>>21423861A lot of the artistry of cooking is learning to balance, enhance and offset complex herbal notes and subtle tastes, for example adding a slight hint of fennel to a tomato sauce to give a vague aniseed taste in the background, but which cannot be isolated as a distinct fennel flavour. It just blends into the overall taste profile, and tastes "yummy"
>>21423765What kinds of people are you interacting with that they smell like cumin?
