Glass is obviously better. I only have solid lids on my copperware. The biggest downside is how fast it gets hot.

When the fog dissapates, then the rice is done steaming, though. I exclusively want a glass lid for wok/skillet dinners, like jambalaya. or chicken and rice or paella. If you need to see, you certainly wouldn't want to lift a lid to see inside and let out your heat or steam. A simple spin of the lid in place will send the moisture down and off the lid momentarily, but having it fogged up means it simply isn't done yet. The lighter the moisture the closer to finished and maybe even time to turn off the burner and let it rest 10 minutes.

I preferred glass over metal for years until I dropped one. It hit the edge of the pot and shattered throwing little shards all over the stew I was making.
