Here me out for a sec... why isn't there StarTrek themed coffee, with replicator areas, where the baristas give you your drink, or designed like 10-forward? Think about it, the menu would involve "a Picard", or "an Obrien". I would pay an extra buck to hang there on the free wifi, and have star trek themed treats and drinks, served in an Obrien mug.

The Paramount people have a golden opportunity here. Give me a call, I can spearhead it.

I think it's a little bit too kitschy for DS9 fans. I'd go for it but most wouldn't.

also knowing paramount they'd force you to sit through an hour of advertisements before being allowed to sit down and pay for food.

There used to be Quark's Bar at the Las Vegas Hilton, late '90s through '00s. They had Star Trek themed food and drinks, and actors in costumes (who, by all accounts, did a very good job). I never got to go, but I would have liked to.

I think theme restaurants are the opposite of a golden opportunity. Successful eateries today are the ones that can cater to the pickup/delivery crowd, heavily relying on in-restaurant atmosphere just canโ€™t work.

Would need to actually have unique food to make โ€˜bothโ€™ work. Usually theme restaurants take normal food and slap a funny name and a higher price tag on it. That shit doesnโ€™t fly with online orderers.

I haven't watched western television in over a decade. I don't even own a TV. TNG used to interest me when I was younger but not any more and I now realize how utterly awful all these TV sitcoms/dramas are. Additionally, star trek in all it's other forms is so bad that I immediately know anyone obsessed with it is a retard.

Paramount wants to be paid? How about kill off Paramount+ streaming and let Netflix pay for Paramount movie+shows again?

This exactly, no one is going to care about a Star Trek themed bar while the old shows are locked behind Paramount's shitty streaming service and the new ones aren't worth watching at all.

QUARK!!!!!!!! Problem is that Star Trek is a zombie franchise- the only people that can care about it are old and Jar Jar shows using its name isn't getting new audiences. Result: it's a walking dead franchise.

>I think theme restaurants are the opposite of a golden opportunity. Successful eateries today are the ones that can cater to the pickup/delivery crowd, heavily relying on in-restaurant atmosphere just canโ€™t work.

The problem with "theme" restaurants or places with a great atmosphere is that they inevitably become relegated to "date spots" and the only people who go there are people going on dates. This is especially a problem in a society with increasing loneliness.

The main reason this happens is that, as OP pointed out, these theme places need to charge a bit more to pay for better trained employees and often more expensive decor.

I do think that themed coffeeshops or bars are better than full-blown restaurants, but only if it's a very general theme ("Fern Bar" for example).

For a coffeeshop based solely around a particular TV show or Movie Franchise...it would have to be in a major city like New York, Los Angeles, or maybe Chicago. I just don't think you'd have enough fans anywhere else for that to work
