>>21428780 Most people outside of traditional bread countries like Germany, France, Italy and some of the neighbors don't know what good bread tastes like either so an appetizer like this won't even make sense to them
>wheat dipped in oil Indian street food is more appetizing and nutritious.

>>21428825 Just means this restaurant has no idea what they are doing, no biggie. I’m sure they only take substandard approaches to presentation and not other things like, say, sanitation.
>>21428861 You seem like the kind of person who Trusts The Plan™ even when no part of the plan is doing what was promised. Or doesn’t evacuate a burning building because you can’t actually see a fire through all the smoke. You should heed the canaries in the coal mine.
>>21428856 >veggie plate I've occasionally seen this at bars and it mystifies me. Why would you go get drunk but then also eat healthy food? That's like having a salad with your pizza. Might as well just load up on fried stuff.
>>21429058 But salad is the perfect side for a pizza because healthy foods like fresh veggies pair well with fatty things like pizza. Plus when you finish your salad you can dip your pizza crusts in the leftover dressing/vinaigrette.

Are there any countries outside of Spain and Italy that haven't decent olive oil? I keep seeing weird Middle Eastern olive oil at the international market, but I have never bought any. Costco doesn't have of the liters of single source anymore, and California olive oil (the branded version) is fucking expensive. The international blend CO offers isn't very good either.
>>21429793 Have or haven't? Spanish olive oil is mid, Italian olive oil is 99% fake trash because the mafia is dominating that market now, it'sthe most untrustworthy product in the world at this point. Greek olive oil is usually the best but the good stuff is still 22-26€ per liter for the 3L or 5L cans. 500ml bottles are much more expensive than that as always

>>21429346 Theres many types of olive oil, some have this bitter taste more pronounced. Other can be more floral, peperry or a bit sweet. Really depends on the type of olives its made of.. get other brands and you might find one you like.. most of the brands dont advertise the olives out of which the oil is made of. But you have oil made from specific known sorts, its just that it costs 3 times as much as regular oil. Olive oil from the south of i italy and spains c

>>21428770 (OP) Do Americans REALLY eat 1000 calories worth of food before the main course? And they call it an "appetizer"??
>>21430531 It's part of the big scam. You fill up on bread and then you don't finish your meal. And then when they clear the table they reassemble the food in the back and sell it to the next people.
>>21428780 i lived in spain almost all my life ive had good bread with good olive oil its better than this slop but not by alot

>>21428770 (OP) >The best appetizer. Period. You get a good olive oil in there, and this is better than fried mushrooms, quesadillas, anything. It's a delicious side for enjoying with an appetizer, soup, seasonal salad or your main, silly. It's not a replacement for any of the above. Also, your ideal app might be the apertif. Dream higher, silly!
I'll just say, when you run across a restaurant that does this well, you never forget it.

>>21429058 Having pickles in between bites of fried food is amazing. But I don't want a raw carrot or steamed broccoli plate, that's for cheaply catered family reunions and holiday in the park functions.
>>21429058 It's a way of salvaging the situation. And I must be half-goat or something because I fucking love vegetables, so a plate of raw carrots or cabbage could replace fries for me.
