It's literally just Anthony Bourdain, and he only pooh-poohs it because you can't mince garlic to your preferred size/texture with a press as opposed to a knife. It's a valid criticism that applies to lots of gimmicky tools like the garlic press but doesn't matter if you're not a gourmet chef or just want garlic paste.
>>21429317 i always say it's one of those time saving tools that doesn't actually save time, it just moves it around. if i'm in big hurry to do my prep for some reason i'll use it, but cleaning it is a pain. i also don't peel the garlic when i use it, which i thought everyone did but apparently not. makes it super fast to use but more time consuming to clean
>>21429296 (OP) Yeah, you can get the exact same effects with just smashing it with a knife and chopping for a few seconds. So why bother both owning and ditrying another utensil for no practical benefit?
>>21429391 Yeah, you can get the exact same effects with just smashing it with a garlic press and putting it directly into your dish and not dirtying a knife with garlic or your mom with my cock.

>>21429296 (OP) I tried this and it just flattened the cloves and broke the handle.
>>21429828 you sure? you were way too retarded to use a garlic press without breaking it and you're handling knives terribly, you should quit while you're ahead also you disrespected your mom (I know your dad isn't around don't bother mentioning that)
>>21429382 it takes me like 20 seconds to clean my garlic press really well and 5 to do it adequately since i use it basically every day the time it takes to dice 8 cloves or garlic or however many are in a bulb is significantly longer

Chew the cloves in your mouth and spit them out, no cleanup required AND you absorb healthy nutrients
>>21429785 My knives don't smell strongly of garlic in the knife block after I chop it up, but the press still stinks up the drawer it's in.

>>21430741 I have never and will never watch a single piece of media involving this uncle roger character. It's patently obvious from everything he's ever passively mentioned in that he's a yellow-guarding click baiter that gets his views by stirring up not-asian-enough food drama with other people. That thumbnail is just even more proof of that for me.

>>21429830 My dad is around. Ive been cutting garlic with knives every other time. Should be obvious because the press is broken and sucks.
>>21429296 (OP) In most applications, smashing it with the side of a knife then giving it a few rough chops works just fine little to no effort required. If garlic needs to be finely chopped then take your time and do just that. If it needs to be grated then do it over the grater. Press is just half assing everything while not saving any appreciable amount of time and effort.

I got one of these and I've honestly only used it maybe 3 times even though garlic is a staple ingredient for me. Idk why it, I'll give it a run next time I make food.

>>21429314 >It's literally just Anthony Bourdain also Alton Brown, who's against "single purpose" kitchen gadgets in principle. they clutter up your kitchen unless you use one often enough to justify its inclusion. they're for people that buy a $400 "set" of 15 knives instead of one quality mid-range chef knife and a cheap paring knife

Best thing about a garlic press: you don't have to peal the garlic clove Just put it in, the garlic goes through, the paper doesn't I bet you FEWLS didn't even know that
