>Americans thinks they have blueberries
What non Euros call blueberry is not in fact blueberry, not only does it taste like a mouth full of flavourless spitwater in comparison, but it's much less nutritious. It's not even properly purple inside that stains your fingers and face

>Blueberries are native to North America and were an important food source for Native Americans long before European colonization. They were used for food, medicine, and even as a natural dye. Modern cultivation of blueberries began in the early 20th century in the United States

American blueberries are quite flavourful. I'm not a huge fan of that flavour but it's most certainly there.

I lived in America in the early 90s and my school had a trip to a Native American history museum and we had precolonial Native food for lunch: venison stewed with blueberries. It was fucking awful.
At the end of the year, because we were doing Native studies as the class project (IE every subject, from maths to literature, for the whole year had something to do with Native shit) we had a party but the closest we could get to native food was Jiffy cornbread mix and buffalo wings (because Native Americans ate buffalo) lmao

If he's British there's a good chance he's never had native wild blueberries from over here so he has no idea they are far more intensely flavoured.

Kek, I grew up around the same time as you but on the Mexican border. So for the native American unit they just went "did you know native Americans are tortillas too" and catered tacos. It ruled.

The ones that we eat here in Finland are not native to America. They might sometimes have the same name, but they're two different things.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaccinium_myrtillus#Distribution_and_habitat
The Finnish name translated to English is "blueberry" anyway. Why am I reading and writing about blueberries at 3AM.

North America has berries from the heath family that are bluish-purple all the way through and more strongly flavored like the European bilberry. They're called huckleberries. America also has lowbush blueberries, which are pale green inside like the commercial blueberries, but with a stronger flavor.

this is accurate, with american fruits and vegetables you're playing a lottery with ~70% of what you purchase being either tasteless or too sweet
~30% chance of getting something that has a strong taste appropriate to the fruit/vegetable in question
